i made runners out of some 1" by 2" box to fit the original mounts then bolted the seats to that, i would serously consider the battery situation before doing it though i find it such a hassle when i need access to the battery hth
right over lunch i decided to test 2 of the motors the results were:
1. the gear/bendix thingy was seized so it just clicked but i assumed the motor would probably be fine.
2. the gear/bendix thingy looked brand and but the motor didnt work.
so i pulled both apart and i used the solanoid, bendix gear part and bolted that to the motor that i assumed worked and tested it and it worked a treat so i now have one working starter motor. Im going to try and work out whats wrong with the other one but will put this one on the vehicle first.
to be honest i havnt been through much water but all the motors have worked less well when the engine has been run for a while so i wondered if it could be heat related?
thanks alot western few quick questions:
1. bendix run not sure what that is?
2. is the fact that when they do work it turns over slowly another problem or is that just because the gear is seizing?
thanks
All three of them are genuine ones and have done exactly as Orgasmicfarmer said they click for a while then work but progressively get worse and then just click, sounds like it may be possible to fix them
Also when they were almost gone they would turn over really slowly.
ive now got 3 broken tdi stater motors, can anyone tell me how to rebuild them and where to get parts?
next question, does anyone know why my 90 eats starter motors for breakfast?
thanks in advance
Ralph i will probably do what you have said but because mine was a petrol before there isnt any wiring for glow plugs so im going to make my own and thats why i would like to know the amps they draw.
ive never had the glowplugs wired into my disco 200tdi engine but i would now like to wire them in, im going to just wire them into a relay and switch, but need to know how many amps they draw so that i can get the correct cable and relay.
thanks in advance
u wont be able to use a discovery axle as you have a salisbury axle which is there because of the extra weight of a 110 as the diff is so easy to take out on the back i would just take it out and either put a second hand one in or get your one repaired.
When i had my side exit exhaust made i had a silencer fitted that apparently would not restrict power. so now ive got a fairly quiet exhaust when cruisng but a fair bit of grunt if you boot it
