  1. Chris I have been advised that the best possible price is £40/ppn for B&B and £55/ppn for DB&B. The normal 3 course dinner rate is £22.50 so £15 is not a bad deal. I don't know that Llangollen is well served with good evening food alternatives. There will be a chippy but not sure about Curries/Chinese and if there are any they may be of dubious quality, unless a "local" can advise please. At these rates I am prepared to book a twin room on a DB&B basis. Anyone else please add you name here over the next few days and I will consolidate the list. Once we have enough interest say 5 or more I will advise the Wild Pheasant to expect your booking. Any queries please let me know. John
  2. Keith Don't worry, it was the s&ite about the cat that prompted my question John
  3. Does this topic hold any merit in the context of Land Rover Technical Information/Interest? John
  4. Nobody has chosen anything as yet, nobody is in charge, nobody is organizing anything! What we have so far are a number of options for accommodation so people can chose their own arrangement. The date is agreed that's all so far. Nearer the date groups of four vehicles will be formed which will hopefully include someone with either local knowledge and or good navigation skills backed by sound experience of offroad/track driving who can chose routes that the others in the group may chose to follow. I would suggest a common meeting place at the start of the day, which is why the Wild Pheasant is on the list of options as the carpark is quite large. The Chain Bridge Hotel although more central, can only accommodate 20 vehicles which may not suffice. If anyone has local knowledge and or suggestions 'we' are all ears i'm sure. John
  5. Why not join here - http://www.brecklandlrc.com/ They have something happening this weekend! John
  6. Chris Well spotted I will ask! I note they also have a romantic retreat offer, I wonder if that will satisfy Les's needs! John
  7. Rates for the Wild Pheasant Hotel are:- Plenty of parking. £45 per person per night B&B £60 per person per night DINNER B&B 3 course dinner 6 choices from each course. Based on two per room, twins and doubles available. Full use of hotel facilities including spa etc. Their other hotel in Llangollen the Chain Bridge Hotel which over looks the river £40 pppn B&B £55 pppn DB&B Twenty parking spaces here outside plus an overflow. Free use of spa etc at the Wild Pheasant Hotel included. These rates are for a minimum of 5 bookings. Any takers? If so put your name down and I will consolidate a list over the next week. If there is not enough interest we can look elsewhere and I believe Chris may have some alternative options. John
  8. "The other big selling point is that the Azalai is still able to fit into a standard hi-cube container for secure shipping to any destination." Quote from the Azalai website! John
  9. Presumably the campsite option is for those not in the "public sector", seems like we are the minority these days! I have made enquiries at the Wild Pheasant Hotel on the A5 in the northern outskirts of Llangollen, about group rates, for 2 nights, twin rooms with dinner and breakfast included. http://www.legacy-hotels.co.uk/legacy-pheasant/home.asp This is to get a guide as to what to expect. Some of you may be interested in some of the facilities offered:- In addition to the free unlimited use of the hydro-pool, steam room and sauna, we offer an extensive range of beauty, health and relaxation treatments at competitive prices in private rooms by qualified therapists. Access to the hydro-pool and sauna facilities.
  10. My rears are OME754 rated 500kg continuous load, see list here - http://www.members.shaw.ca/jbarge/springinfo.html Installed without an anti-roll bar, frankly I am very pleased with the ride, even unladen and have not noticed any additional discomfort compared to the 755's (300kg continuous load) previously fitted. The lift is around 40mm. Body roll is less than 755's with anti-roll bar, even when fitted with Hannibal roof rack and clamshell IMPI roof tent c 90kg in total. OME shock absorbers fitted all round OME 751 springs on the front. John
  11. OME 500KG rear load springs on my 110 works fine. John
  12. Chris Have a look at these - http://www.satmap.com/ Designed for bikes and bobbles but getting very good reviews. Software is not cheap, you can buy by county at 1:25000. If this company really takes off, prices should drop. I will have a word with a contact who engineered the design - http://www.cambridge-design.co.uk/ John
  13. Phew that's a relief! Welcome then to the forum John
  14. Is that a BMW Mseries3 or Land Rover!
  15. Easy! Keep the G4 and give me the Patriot John
  16. The TGV 2.8 (300tdi derivative) has a remote filter which uses standard 300tdi filters. Try M&D Engineering who might be able to supply one as they are UK agents. http://mdengineering.co.uk/index.php John
  17. Re "I was told that to covert a rhd landrover to lhd would take years of red tape and letters direct from landrover saying that the vehicle meets type approval etc." It took over three years for my father to get his UK built caravan registered for use in France when they relocated there in the 90's. Despite it being CE approved and better built than French models, he met officialdom at every turn, despite type approval letters and design plans extracted from the UK manufacturer. Trailers and caravans in France have their own registration documents, lets hope we don't end up with that system here! A friend moved to Spain 4 years ago with a LHD UK registered 110. (He had bought it in Oman, driven it back and registered it in the UK). When he left the UK, he advised the DVLA that he was relocating abroad and permanently exporting the 110. He then tried to register the 110 in Spain, who still will not let him do so because the vehicle is not registered in the UK, even though it once was. So his 110 is stateless so to speak and cannot be used. I suspect he will have to break it for spares. A warning to all, do your homework before you move overseas and plan to take a vehicle with you. John
  18. Why not post them in the Forum Calendar so they don't slip off the page so to speak. John
  19. We are waiting for a decision to be made by the forum member who posted this - "I am 'not' planning to organise another LR4x4 green lane trip this year, this time to the beautiful area of North Wales." John
  20. Is'nt there a lipped tensioner upgrade that helps keep the belt away from the timing cover! A expert will be along no doubt to advise! John
  21. Provisionally I am available either date, however I may have to do a yacht delivery in Greece that might clash, so I can't confirm until much nearer the date. It would be good to identify a base from which to start/where to stay. LLangollen has some sizeable hotels that might do good deals at that time of the year. If it is possible to determine where most of the best off road routes are we can then try to suggest a base. Perhaps those with local knowledge will be able to advise? John
  22. NFU here as well, on agreed value basis. John
  23. It did happen to me with OME springs. Rather than fit spacers I removed the ARB and up-rated the springs to 500kg, partly because I am planning an expedition or two.. Now have little body roll and the ride is pretty good too. John
  24. A possible solution to this problem is to fit 30mm spacers between the bar and chassis on both sides. Apparently this modification can prevent the bar "inverting" John
