  1. Try and keep to the point guys. If you want to play word games try Countdown. John
  2. On that note I have closed this thread. Dissing one or the other is not going to happen here. Let them do their worst and we can discuss it with hindsight rather than speculation. John
  3. zeb, Is there a local Land Rover club you could join? Find out to which show they are going and tag along. The LR community is in part divided by the two publications choosing to have shows the same weekend. Generally the LR community don't care who runs the show as long as it is well run and serves the needs of the community and LR traders. No one can truly say which will be better before they happen, so you have to make your own decision, frankly just like the rest of us! If I go it will be to Billing only for a day, because it is a bit closer, I have been offered a lift and there will be some people I know there. I don't go to watch the show-ring entertainment, which I find to be pretty anal and full of oversized ego's. The off-road courses may be fun to watch, however I have never bothered to participate or spectate at those either. As a newby to Land Rovers I suspect either of the shows will have plenty for you. John
  4. Zeb as you will have nothing to compare with either one will probably be OK. You will not get a straight answer, because frankly nobody knows which will be best. After the events the only comparisons will be from those that attend both for example one show on each of the main days. My advice it to go to the one your mates will be at, where you can make your own fun if the show is not up to scratch. John
  5. I could do with a pair of those. The ones on the market I have seen so far don't rock my boat. John
  6. Your post is a bland statement, either back up what you say with some facts or don't be surprised if it is removed. John
  7. I have one of these from Britpart, distorted on first use, did not undo the nut, complete rubbish and a waste of my time. Ensure you get one that is robust enough to do the job. John
  8. Steve Do you want to team up for the Billing visit? John
  9. Are your replacements Prestolite or Bosch? Bosch are the original suppliers and their units tend to be much more durable than Prestolite, one of the main aftermarket brands. A Bosch replacement will be around 50% more expensive than aftermarket alternatives. John
  10. I see twitter seems to get everywhere these days
  11. My amp is under the cubby box which is raised 2" on pillars, at the front one in each corner, a piece of tube with a bolt through it and the seat box with the nut on the underside. The rear of the cubby is fixed with a side plate each side and single bolt so it hinges back for access. John
  12. I might have a couple of oil hoses with fittings in place. They are unused from when my 2.8tgv was fitted. The tgv has an internal oil cooling circuit, with a remote oil filter. Or what about the oil pipes from a 300tdi, the ones that go to the radiator oil cooler from the engine. John
  13. MT's tend to dig you into sand, so AT's are probably more suitable. STT's are a mud rating too on the Coopers. Try Sinton Tyres for COOPER ST's, I am after a set of 255/85/16's for my desert trip next year. Let me know if you find any at a good price! John
  14. 48PSI in the rear is correct, 28 for the front, although I run my fronts at 33. If the ride is too stiff you can always reduce the rear pressure when unladen by a few PSI. John
  15. Wolf rims look better than pretend modulars, will be stronger and can be bought (new take off) for similar money! I paid £30 + VAT each recently for a set of 5. They were painted white, so a quick rub down and they will be silver grey soon. John
  16. The police on recent form appear to shoot first and ask questions later, so it's not wise to be waving a gun around in a public place. It only takes someone to report a "man with a gun" for the armed response unit to be hunting you down. So keep it at home or dispose of it! John
  17. Welcome to LR4X4. I suggest you try a search for a local Land Rover club who will have off road days, including lanes and loads of helpful advice. We do not post "greenlane" information as a rule on the forum, however I am sure someone from the forum local to you will be able to help. John
  18. My RM O/D runs fine had it since 2004, runs on Redline Oil from the transfer box. I can cruise at 65mph doing 2200 rpm in a 110 weighing 2.5 tons, with a roofrack and tent on top. John
  19. I use one of these - http://www.power-store.com/view-item.asp?i...amp;id=191& Handles 2 batteries and can be locked with a long shank padlock. Designed for the marine market. John
  20. Hi Teflon You have finally made it here, welcome I don't have a clue about your sills, but I am sure someone will be along soon. Your post might get greater visibility in the relevant vehicle forum. John
  21. The problem I had with the national luna - "I now realise though this is only necessary due to the electronics in the national luna unit draining the battery to the point the alarm goes off on the meter, the drain then increases as the led's light and the buzzer is going off every few minutes." If I left the vehicle for a couple of weeks it would drain the batteries. After 3-4 weeks of no use the battery voltage is down to 12.3 volts with the VSR system, with both batteries isolated, so loads of starting power still. I bought my VSR from Merlin Powerstore in Poole here - http://www.power-store.com/index.asp who offer a wide range of electronics suitable for boats, which are very compatible for Land Rovers encountering testing situations. Their VSR's are listed here - http://www.power-store.com/?id=196 However I suggest you phone up and discuss your requirements as the list is not correct vs 12/24 volt options and prices (as I just did to check) John
