  1. That's a pretty unique occurrence to be fair, bex towing bex. The tow-er is even the right colour, just missing the amber beacons.
  2. Agreed, especially with ethanol becoming more and more part of it. Yeah, steel is great for tanks, as it bends and recovers most of the time, aluminium and especially stainless really don't like being flexed about. If it were me, if I hadn't already decided to go TD5 I'd be making a new steel tank with a nice thick bottom (maybe 5mm?) so there's no need for a tank guard, and the rest in 3mm, including the baffles. But TD5 is WAAAY easier and cheaper.
  3. The Jem would likely get 50mpg if kept with a 1.75 SU rather than a twin weber... he'd be SAVING money by having two cars. You see the man-maths at work there?
  4. I've gone back to using bluecol, everything else seems to turn to mud in my experience.
  5. Possibly, but then there's two cars to have fun with
  6. So, done by Easter then? Right on time for the 200TDI to be hoiked out
  7. It may not be a 5 minute job, but if you are prepared to run around in a rat-rod like fashion at least knowing the underpinnings are good then it may not be as much work as it could be.
  8. That's been a LOOOONG conversation many times!
  9. Same! I do have digital as well.... but the proper ones always work.
  10. So, what you are saying is you need to fix up the Jem so you can take the Ibex off the road for a short period of time?
  11. Yep, pretty weird juxtaposition to be fair!
  12. Yeah... you'll very likely need to move the whole lot forward a bit, and get new props, and quite a few other bits.
  13. I am not surprised in the slightest, it looks truly fantastic.
  14. 14.5V at the alternator is quite normal, though it can depend on the car, some have slightly lower rated voltage regulators fitted.
  15. I meant to add..... If there's a chance I can help you out, just shout.
  16. Glad to hear there's sill plans afoot, get well fella and just keep us in the loop with the continuing madness
  17. What an innocuous post to start this thread with.... Anyway! How's progress Stephen?
