  1. Just wondering how i go about inserting an internet link within a post. Also, how to save that link as another name so that its not sentences long if you know what i mean...
  2. Jeff, is it possible there is an underlying reason that the stainless manifolds are breaking ie too much play in engine/gearbox mountings etc.. Its just that i know of a few peeps with stainless V8 manifolds and none have had any breakage problems... Dunno if they were made by SS mind you... Just a thought.
  3. Im looking for an engine wiring harness for a 110 with megasquirted V8, and ive been given a part number ( many thanks to Ralph) for one. However, it is listed as a harness for an auto transmission. I intend to use the R380 and was wondering if someone with RV8 experience could tell me if there would be a difference in the engine harnesses between auto and manual gearboxes. Im hopeful that i will be able to use the one that Ralph pointed me towards as i will save ££££
  4. As im getting along (slowly) with my 110 build im almost ready to fit the tub onto the chassis. Now, the chassis i have is a TD5 one but the rear tub that i have restored is pre-TD5. Am i going to have issues bolting it up? I ask this because the TD5 chassis has a different rear crossmember arrangement...
  5. As above. I was looking to fit a nato hitch to my 110, along with some heavy spreader plates. However the fuel tank cradle supporting my plastic tank bolts onto the inside of the rear crossmember exactly where id want to put the inside spreader plate. Does anyone know what my options are on this...
  6. Chadler. Where did you buy these? Id be interested in fitting these to my slowly developing 110 if they are an easy fit...
  7. Looking for part no for the engine harness for a 110 V8. Must be for the fuel-injected model though. Cheers in advance
  8. So, that being the case will any 110 loom do?
  9. Im intending to do the MS separately. Im just wondering what loom i need to get as i dont have one at all just now. You see im at the stage in my build where im ready to get the rear tub all fitted onto the chassis but cant fit the tub until i have the fuel pump wired up... I was hopeful that all the switchgear / dashes were the same on all the defenders apart from the very latest ones?
  10. Just wondering if anyone could help me decide which wiring loom i need to get for my 110. Spec will be as follows: TD5 chassis fitted with megasquirted RV8. Plastic TD5 fuel tank fitted with 4.6 RR fuel pump. Im hopeful that a standard V8 110 loom will do, but just would like to see if anyone has any thoughts..
  11. Thanks Ralph.. Ever helpful as usual.. Think its the latter of the two i need.
  12. Not sure if this would be better off in 'request part numbers' section... Mods feel free to move if appropriate. Looking for those cable-ties that push-fit into holes of the defender chassis. Ive found ties that will push-fit into a 6mm hole but not the 8mm hole in the chassis. Are these available? Cheers
  13. What you have to remember is that these engines turbocharged from the factory are designed from scratch to run with these pressures in mind. The RV8 was not... 9.5 : 1 is a very healthy compression ratio for a standard RV8 but i guarantee you, if you attempt to turbo at this compression you may as well weigh-in what you have left to the scrappy because you will be left with a bucket of bits...
  14. Dont agree. The RV8 will take 300 BHP no problem at all (either cross-bolted OR non cross-bolted). The size of the mains have nothing to do with it. What will kill the standard engine (small OR big mains) is excessively high revs.. If you can make that 300 BHP keeping within reasonable revs ie 6000 - 6500 RPM you will have NO probs.. Im sure a few 4.6 owners on here will testify to that.. What you need to take care of if you plan to turbocharge is to make sure you have low enough compression or you WILL need that plastic bucket for the broken parts...
  15. Im about ready to fit the rear tub onto my 110 after a full ground-up rebuild that is currently ongoing. Ive just refitted a fully refurbed a-frame and new fuel pump. Apart from fitting the fuel lines is there any jobs that absolutely have to be done before i go ahead and fit the tub. I really dont wanna be taking it back off again because of something ive forgotten. There is no loom as yet - will this be ok to fit after fitment of the tub?
  16. Could be the rate of the spring is just too high. Dont know what you mean about slackening off the shock bushes??
  17. Thanks for the responses guys. Either solid or box-section would do. Angle wont do so B&Q are prob out.
  18. Im looking for 2 rectangular steel sections. Dimensions are 16mm x 32mm x 115mm. Where would i be able to buy these? Any help appreciated.
  19. Im looking for the part number for the brake pipe that runs right back to the rear axle. Thanks
  20. well if they were home made they were very good because they looked exactly like the rear stays, just longer..
  21. hmmm. would be interesting to know if the military added them, and if so, is it a part that you can buy... who would know if this is a military part?
  22. Looking for the part numbers as per title for a 110 van. Looking through the parts catalogue it shows part nos for the rear stays (MRC6027 & MRC6028) but doesnt show the numbers for the stays that fit between the bulkhead behind the seats and the sidepanels...
  23. I see. I'll go with them being ok then.. So given that i bought them from another reputable well known, independant parts supplier, why didnt they buy from the OEM company instead of buying tham from britpart who bought them from the OEM. I presume every time the parts end up in a different companies hands, the cost to the consumer will go up each time?
