  1. Hang on a sec are we talking at cross purposes here. You can remove the load levelling unit. But I'm pretty sure you can't remove the A frame with the ball joint at the point. That is what stops the axle moving side to side. I think this is what the OP is asking. Steve Edit...Landyman beat me to it.
  2. Boys toys don't all have to be of the same type. My toys Dakar 4x4 Ultima GTR Steve
  3. Get the second hand one (or the cheaper one) and spend the difference on a load leveler and an engine stand. Steve
  4. has not set their status

  5. Yes, possibly needs a re-gas. The dryer should be mounted somewhere around the offside inner wing. There will be two rubber pipes connected to it. It's most likely black and about the size of a small thermos flask. http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:Uo3rlPZ8gnLMFM:http://gemstreetrods.com/air_conditioning_-_receiver_dryer.jpg Steve
  6. Don't know about yours but many systems have both over-pressure and under-pressure switches (often in the same switch body = 4 wires). This lives in the top of the dryer. If your system is low on pressure it may have shut down to protect itself. Try it later in the day when, hopefully, it is warmer and see if it works then. If it does then the system needs re-pressurising. Steve PS You may find that letting the engine get up to working temp will warm things under the bonnet sufficiently to get the pressure up a little.
  7. I have an Earlex Wet and dry, switches itself off if full of water, donkeys years old, bloody noisy, gets the job done. If I was buying again I would get the next model up with the power outlet. You can then plug in something like a router with the vac pipe connected. The vac then only comes on when you switch on the power tool. Steve
  8. Next step...Bolt the docking station to the dash and leave it all wired in. Steve
  9. I would start by approaching the specialist insurers, of which there are many, but the likes of Adrian Flux, Footman James, MSM, Hagerty. Because they deal with both modified and kitcars they are more open minded. They will be keen to know that you are building it yourself as in their eyes you are far less likely to be ragging it about the streets in the way insurance companies have gotten used to with your normal new driver. Best of luck Steve ETA The above insurance companies are well aware of Q plates and it means nothing to them.
  10. I could understand wanting to take your old friend 90/S3 with you but buying one to convert then having the hassle of registration both here and in France makes no sense. Far easier to just buy one when out there. Steve
  11. I don't have the answer but can predict that those who do will want to know which gearbox, vehicle and age as the pipework is most likely different for each 'box. Steve
  12. I have used these ones from Carbuilder Solutions. £12 http://www.cbsonline.co.uk/led-clear--sr1-158-p.asp Steve
  13. Ezeebleed is the way to go. When you use the spare tyre make sure it is down to about 15psi. If you have it too high it compresses the bubbles in the pipes and being smaller they are reluctant to move along. I expect you would just be happy to have bubbles in the pipes at this point in time. Steve
  14. I don't know this master cylinder so I may be all wrong here. On the RRC there is a brake fail warning switch that screws into the side of the master cylinder. This must be undone a few turns before you can bleed the system. There are also two systems going to the front calipers and these must also be bled in a specific sequence. If the disco setup is the same I can look up and post the bleed procedure for you. Steve
  15. Have you used the whole disco brake arrangement i.e. cylinder, servo, pedal box? If not you may have a mismatch between the parts one of the common ones being that the pushrod is the wrong length and not allowing the master to either travel far enough or not return far enough. Steve
  16. PM FridgeFreezer above. He should be able to supply all you need unless he's up to his ears in it. Steve
  17. If you want to get the most support from the guys above then you should look to getting MS1 rather than Micro. If you then set it up with the same version of firmware/software they will know exactly what you have and how to help you. A cheaper version of trigger wheel is available from Ford as fitted to transit vans. Steve
  18. Sorry, not been trying to get you. It was sort of pre-empting your response to me suggesting you write the manual. Bit like 'I'll get my coat' Steve
  19. No, this will fix a leak but will not stop the plug blowing out. Have you refitted new plugs and were they tight? Others are suggesting head gasket but it may simply be the plugs are no longer a good fit (or Britpart). Steve
  20. John, When you have 5 minutes to spare how about writing the LR4x4 MS1 V3 029V MS SnE EDIS8 instruction manual. This thread is getting so big by the time you get to the end you forget what you were looking for as well as loosing the will to live. Steve PS Why aren't you talking to me any more?
  21. Just dropping in a MS system is not that easy. I would leave it as it is unless you are having issues and failures. If you had bought the car to go play in mud and water then MS/EDIS would be the route but I suspect this car is going to see an easier life. Steve
  22. Today DVLA will ask the questions but a while back simply sending off the V5 with the change of body style would suffice. So how long ago was the conversion and the letter asking for inspection? You could today do a conversion to a pickup or trayback without having to have an SVA as long as you don't modify the chassis. A bobtail cannot be done without chopping off the back of the chassis so will require SVA. Steve
  23. Q plates are still issued. As you say, yours is not a Q plate but this may just be that it has never been registered properly. In which case it probably should be a Q. If you want to be sure it is legal then you will need to contact DVLA. I would recommend visiting your local office rather than speaking to the help line. Much as they may try to help this is a rather more technical enquiry and may be beyond them. The whole process you are heading towards will give you a world of grief which I doubt is worth the effort considering your description of the vehicles condition. Steve
  24. Vinyl plates are not allowed but I have been using them on one of my cars for 5 years. As long as the spacing and font are correct they probably won't draw anyone's attention. Steve
  25. Rain in Nevada? Did you have to go onto Google to find out what it was. Steve
