  1. Yeah I can't fault the mount, it's the camera.. now I have to go and look for another one, preferably with an external microphone because that clicking is mostly internal to the camera... I had lots of fancy shots planned too. You can stick it anywhere theres a flat planel (That'll be most of a land rover). What's this mowing thing then?
  2. Got a bit of video, but it's a bit boring as it only lasted the start of the day. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=I9kpiTQm9xc
  3. My third proper offroading day (I think that puts me in the inexperienced group) and it was really good fun, thanks to James and everyone else. Didn't break anything either! I would post pictures but my camera died just as I started using my new mount, so I don't have any.
  4. Since I looked we've had 4 weather warnings, so I'm not sure..
  5. Hi all, I've bought a track rod guard of the type made by WVA Holdings, sold by Safari equip, OEC, and I'm told, Scorpion. I saw a fitting guide, think it was a pdf, before I bought it. But now it's arrived I can't find it! None has come with it, so I was hoping someone on here has seen one. Looking at the guard it's fairly self explanitory, but I want to know I am doing it right, not think I am. Cheers
  6. OK thanks for the offer, where abouts are you in Somerset? I don't need the car until saturday and I'm free any day.
  7. Somerset presently! RE hilift etc, that does seem quite easy but having used the hilift all of 1 times so far and my propensity for breaking stuff, I'd rather let someone who knows what they're doing have a go!
  8. OK, thanks guys. I know this is a how long is a peice of string question, but how much would a tyre place usually ask for to do that? I realise it may not actually be that, but I think it's likely.
  9. Out of curiosity, why isn't this done by the factory? Is there some benefit to having it open? Surely after 50 years they'd have closed it up if there was not a specific reason for not doing so, everyone knows what a rust trap they are. Looks really good though.
  10. Good day all, I put the 90 back on the special tracks in preparation for the 31st, and as soon as I topped up the pressures from the 20psi I store them at, one began to hiss at the rim/tyre join. Having looked at it with the tyre still on, there is a fair amount of rusty colour around that area so wondering if it's rust causing a bad seal. I'm going to take it to a tyre place tomorow but I know nothing about tyres and I hate going to places knowing nothing about what I'm trying to get them to fix. I know yet again it's a problem description by the noise, but I'd like to at least have an idea of what it might be and what they're likely to say needs to be done, so that if they come out with "that's a new rim/tyre/both" I'll know they're probably not being too honest. Any thoughts welcome.
  11. You have me down I hope! Going to need to borrow a jerry can and get a mortgage to get there but that's ok by me. What type of event is it? In other words Insas or ATs? I'm going to try bloody hard to get my MTs, don't like the idea of going up on the Insas..
  12. The weather for Thursday-Sunday is meant to be good according to the MET office site... At least the ground won't be dry and boring and we won't get soaked either, perfect! I'm looking forward to it.
  13. So David Bowyer makes Superwinches as well as Goodwnches using T-Maxes as bases, or am I completely misunderstanding? Got to say, since I saw the TDS Goldfish I know where my money's going when I get a winch.
  14. Milemarker, I appreciate there are advantages to an electric fan, but at £30 for a new viscous unit I must say, for something I can just bolt straight on it's very tempting. I have been looking at electric fan installations and to be fair they seem like a good idea, but they also lack of factory-fit quality I like! How do you determine when the viscous unit really is faulty? Should it have no resistance at all after being hot if broken? Matt Neale took a look yesturday and wasn't sure it is faulty, and after being run, if I give the fan a quite hard flick it does a 1/4 turn.
  15. I've seen more untidy parking in B&Q carpark... Personally I'd have been worried it could have rolled!
  16. Good idea, if he doesn't see this thread beforehand, I'll ask when I finally get these spreader plate measurements measured and sent on Saturday. This is of course if there is a good enough turn out!
  17. To continue on from the high temperature (you never know, it might help someone else), it was discovered that my viscous fan is indeed not working. You can spin it freely when the engine is hot. If anyone has one going that works, I'm looking for one! I don't know if it was working prior to the pump renewal, so when I get a replacement I will see how it effects things. I'm amazed how it handles working without one though. I don't want to go the electric fan route for reasons of complexity to fit and I like to keep as much standard as possible, it is just much easier to bolt on a replacement.
  18. There is a high probability I won't have a co-driver for this one, will that be an issue? I mean I managed to hit a tree WITH a co-driver last time....
  19. I haven't seen the bumper you mention, but is it possible they no longer sell them due to this section of their site? http://www.firstfour.co.uk/index.php?optio...New%20EU%20Laws Ebay may be a better option.
  20. I want to tidy it UP! Luke I know what you mean, I'm going to take off the pipe to the air filter and see if it makes much difference. At least these Rebel snorkels are made for the job! I'm thinking that the pipe from the 300TDi one will be able to join to the top of the wing as it's flexible, so I can just seal up the join there rather than cut a new hole in the side of the wing. I might paint over the garish Rebel logo though... I wondered if this is the best make of snorkel to do it with, or if anyone would know if the pipe was not flexible enough to do it.
  21. Hi all, I'm thinking of buying a smarter looking snorkel for my 90. I have at the moment a metal one which looks like it's home-made and the way it secures to the windscreen pillar was by 2 bent screws, which have since fallen out, and nothing I try to secure it back on will work, and I don't want to drill more holes there. It's also probably letting water in while driving due to its shape. I want something like the mushroom top ones, as I think they look better than the scoop-looking type, something like this one at the top from Rebel 4x4: Rebel 4x4 Snorkel The snorkel will mostly be used to keep dust out of the engine, it's a V8 so its never going wading, but I would like to know that if the water ever gets too deep, there will be at least some level of protection, which the current snorkel doesn't have. As the 90 is the type without the sidevents in the wings, I would like to use the existing hole on the drivers side. The snorkel comes out of the wing and just above it's join to the wing I'm thinking of cutting it off and getting some flexible pipe (like in the pic above) to seal over the base of the snorkel that will be left. Here's the best pic I can find of the current snorkel. I'd cut it about an inch to two inches above the join to the wing, to leave something to seal the pipe to. Would this be possible, or would it just leak and be ineffective? What is the best kind of snorkel to use for my needs, bearing in mind there won't be any deliberate wading? I'm not looking to throw big money at this as it's only to smarten up the appearance of the car. Cheers for any thoughts.
  22. That's how I make mose of my posts! Glad to hear you got it sorted though.
  23. Hi Milemarker, I can't hear anything specifically coming from the water pump, there are a few squeaks and noises from the engine but there always has been. One other thing (I'm probably going to sound very stupid here), I cleaned the end of the fan with the round-spring type thing on the end of it (yep, I knew I would sound stupid). Does this has have something to do with making the viscous coupling on the fan work? It was caked in thick oily mud, so perhaps the fan was being heated up quicker by this mud and working sooner? Probably talking rubbish.
  24. I have been out on a play day site and not once did the needle get any further up the scale than the end of the white and it definetly didn't get into the black. On the old pump it would get well into the black at offroad speeds. I still don't understand why it is so quick to warm up now, and it's normal temp is higher, but it's not higher off road so I guess there is no problem with it as it is. Why would its average temp be higher but not go as high as the old one off road?
  25. We checked the rad level, ran it, checked it again, I'm sure it's not airlocked now. It was after that the 'problem' persists.
