  1. Hello. I have a problem with a TD5 powered Wildcat racer. It has stood for a few months and when we tried to start it, the fuel pump was making screaching noises and we could hear air going through the fuel filter / lines etc. during priming. It took 3 or 4 attempts to clear the air before the engine would start, and then the fuel pump sounded normal. We checked for leaky pipes. Checked filter head. Checked all connections. Still getting air in to filter within 10 minutes or so of stopping engine. Changed fuel pump - Genuine Land Rover Part, but still air in system. Changed Filter head and all pipes - new take off, still air in system. Changed pressure regulator on block - still air in system. In the filter head on the return of the high pressure side there is a silicone one way valve, which appears to be good. On the breather back to the tank, there is a little valve that allows air, but not fuel to return to the tank. We have removed this and it clears the air quicker, but it's still got air in. Has anyone encountered this problem or have any advice on what to look for? Nicksmelly
  2. Flush it out with diesel / parafin / petrol / thinners or whatever you have handy. Make sure you get whatever you put in out and its dried thoroughly.
  3. 461 Mhz up to 462.450 Mhz is used by the fire brigade for their personal radio's. But up until 2001 461.500 Mhz up to 462.950 Mhz was used for SRBR (Short Range Business Radio). Kenwood and Motorola released a couple of different radios that used this band. The Kenwood TK361 and the Motorola Handi-Com. They were restricted to 500 mW and you had to pay £15 a year for a licence. I've still got a few that I occasionally use, and have not had any problems with interference to or from anyone.
  4. It's likely to be 1" 9/16th if its the traditional 10A round 3 pin kettle element type thingy bob. Backer Elements
  5. The bollards at Tesco are actually made from recycled plastic bags...
  6. How embarrassing... A Jeep did better.
  7. I had a new K&N filter on my Range Rover. When I took it off to clean and oil it, the pipework was full of fine dust... loads of it.. so I cleaned it all out and went back to a paper filter. A year later when I was changing the filter I checked the pipework and it was clean, if not a little oily. I chucked the K&N in the bin, thats the best place for them.
  8. I've got a 2KVA yellow one. Very impressed, it starts first time every time and is very quiet. Got it off Ebay.
  9. Tesco do a couple of 3 Watt Luxeon Torches, either 2 C cell or 2 D cell, Good quality machined Aluminium, proper on off button. They have Collimator lens so the beam is excellent and very bright/ They are £12 and £15.
  10. Mordant solution is the acid etch. No need to acid etch prime.
  11. You need Mordant solution. (T- Wash) it's a solution of copper sulphate and phosphoric acid, and it turns the zinc black and its ready to paint as soon as you rinse the excess off and let it dry. I got 5 litres made by Dulux / ICI for £9. ICI Mordant Solution
  12. The rear seat passenger of the vehicle was trapped and efforts were taken to steady the vehicle by using a tow line and rescue the occupant. Emergency first aid was administered by two off duty paramedics who had been in the convoy. One of the parties went for help (in a vehicle, previous information that he had walked are incorrect)
  13. I have a set of Britpart half shafts in the back axle, they look like they have been machined from liquorice with a very blunt tool. They have been in for 3 years with no problems, and I have 35" tyres and a tuned 200tdi... Before that I had original Land Rover shafts and they broke.
  14. And Greenway was part of Colway, so you're stuffed, as they are no more.
  15. Scotian, comparatively, you're a newby too... Group: Settled In Posts: 225 Joined: 6-February 08 From: Craiova (Romania) at the moment Member No.: 7,320
  16. I thought the top hose bung on 300tdi was a different size to the radiator bung...
  17. I blame the K&N. If it's not been looked after your engine will be full of grinding paste. Scrap it
  18. I have a friend who has had two from QT on his Tomcat racer, both have suffered from twisted sector shafts. Adwest will repair them for £262.50 a pop but offer no guarantee. I'm going to stick with a standard 4 bolt box and fit a quickner in the column.
  19. i had to take the windy ratchet back (minus a few sockets that have found there way into my tool set now
