  2. great tips there Nige, thanks - wouldnt had thought about welding it up as you said - I would had blitzed each point at a time. what would use to clean up the areas to be welded - thinking ease of access too? is there any special info about where the cage enters the front wing section and not having to remove the wings?
  3. I have at last, long overdue it must be said, got a roll cage coming for my Def 90 hardtop. Its a P&P one which has the external front section, then the internal hoop and rear section. I am at this stage not sure what info/instructions come with the cage, but the question is in the meantime that I am looking for some advice on the fitting any hints and tips for the best way to get the best results. Many thanks all
  4. I am on the look out for a roll cage (still) for my Defender 90 hardtop and originally liked the idea of the safety devices one that disappears into the roof behind the drivers head onto an internal hoop arrangement. I have since been looking at the P&P one which the top bar over the driver is essentially flat, but then I happened upon one on the north offroad site - its on the bottom of their web page. I must admit to liking the layout of it. on the inside , I would prefer diagonals going down to the rear X member rather than horizontal bars. Looking at it I would also like to know whether you can still remove the bonnet easily, as that lower crossbar looks a tad close. does anyone have any good advice so that I can make a more informed choice?
  5. I'm after a roll cage for my 90 hardtop. I rather like the one (safety devices?) where the hoop section is one piece starting at the front ourigger and continues up and over the driver and goes into the roof behind the driver. Any ideas where to get this from and how much-ish?
  6. XP motors dont fit Ti's My Ti motor went pearshaped and I got another from Devon4x4. At first they sent an XP motor, i offered it up to fit and its no good sadly.
  7. I have a mantec one fitted to the rear of my 90, looks like the one in the simmonites piccy - it has a stainless 'shocker' type assembly on the rear of it that bolts to the door. it has been great , no rattles even with a 35" hanging on it. Its been hit when dropping off steep slopes and hasnt suffered as a result. I did however reverse into a tree and that bent the bottom bar in a bit , but still no ill effects other than a bend. I ws goin to bend it back then decided to leave it as it meant the bottom of the spare wheel was closer into the body!

  14. posted on behalf of a friend on mudclub.............. Land Rover Clearout 22nd March 2008 We are basically filling the void as the southern Sodbury Sortout has been cancelled. We have found a venue that is easily accessible for most of the UK. Unfortunately the location will only be able to take 500 sellers so please book early to avoid disappointment. The venue has direct links to the M40 and the M1, also the A5, A43 and A34 we are just 1 hour from Birmingham and London and 2 hours from the South Coast and Nottingham. All pitches will be on hard standing so the weather will not be an issue. There will be Toilets and Refreshments on site. The site will be open from 7am for sellers and 9am for buyers. We are not into this event to make money, purely to give people like you an opportunity to sell all the unwanted bits and pieces lurking in the backs of their sheds and garages. Places are going very fast, with most of Sodburys traders booked already. Full details can be found at www.landroverclearout.com
  15. I rather like the cage that disappears into the roof just behind the driver - I think that White90s is like that.
  16. would the wire bunch up easily on that set up? apologies if thats a dumb question as i have no experience of these things!
  17. its pricy for what it is, but it seems to be well made and solves a big problem! making one up to fit looks like a hellishly time consuming task to get right

I also have the thermal jacket with mine. freezes easily from the 12v supply in a 30 degree ambient Been abused by the kids, sat on, dropped etc..... and still unmarked highly recommended.

  23. I can get hold of a hydraulic motor pack that is driven by a 4 hp 12v electric motor - it contains a solenoid pack, hyd pump and reservoir. Its off a rather large tail lift vehicle. Not sure of the flow though. is there any reason why this couldnt be converted to power a winch ? ie get the advantages of both power types.
