Mutley
Can anybody tell me what the name of the Electrical Wax/Grease is that is often found on electrical connections and used as a water repellent. Usually on plugs and the likes in the engine bay, normally white, sticky with a waxy feel??? Cheers Andy
Anderzander
White Lithium grease ? or Silicone Dielectric grease ?
Bowie69
Or just use vaseline/petroleum jelly, works fine.

Mutley
Yep know of using Vaseline, but that disperses quite easily where as this sticky waxy stuff seems to last and stay in place and last?
Bowie69
Just fill the connector with it, all over the pins etc, no need to put it over the outside.
Superpants
Dow DC 4 Available from several of the catalogue electrical suppliers e.g; Rapid I have a tube that is about 10 years old- don't get through it very quickly, but very good stuff!

ThreePointFive
Stupid question perhaps, but could a dielectric grease be used as a preventative to electrolytic corrosion between bodywork panels?
HoSS
Vaseline is fine on battery terminals etc. Silicone grease is often used on high current connectors too.
Mutley
I just liked the idea of the sticky stuff, that once applied you know it will stay put and not wash away too easily!?! This is (for me) mainly for connector/plug joints plus where some connectors dont take all the metal and leaves it exposed to water and other elements.
