Mo Murphy
Ralph, that link's pictures are showing a Tdi clock panel and clocks, be wise to check with the seller before bidding. Mo
Paddy_SP
Paddy, this is the autocraft4x4 one I saw earlier Td5 instrument pack good hunting & hope the return of the Disco pack goes well Thanks again! I've spoken to the people concerned and they have agreed to take the Disco dash back. I've also done as Mo suggested and sent an email to find out if the Autocraft item has an electronic or mechanical speedo. Fingers crossed! Anyway - postage was rather more than I was hoping for, but I've bought the dash all the same. Fingers crossed that I have more success with it than the last one! Paddy_SP
Happy to help Paddy, More help needed please! I ordered both plugs from RS using the numbers posted above, but the 20-pin one (530-6319) doesn't fit... It's nearly right, but the outer moulding is a different shape. I guess I must have a dash from a different model year - any ideas as to where I might track down the correct RS number?
western
haven't a clue, but hopefully Diesel_Jim will jump in & sort it for you.

(not the actual speedo itself) for the warning light unit the RS part numbers are 362-8780 and 362-8796 respectively, and the terminals are 362-8869 (thanks to MartinL for the number searchng) As i said to Ralph last night, i might have a pair of bare new plugs unused from when i was doing the same conversion myself. i've got ot po into work later to drop off a trailer so i'll have a look. Many thanks for the continued help - I'd be stuffed without such expert guidance... Anyway Jim - you're quite right, I am referring to the warning light unit! This is the back of the dash: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i207/Pad...5Dash_small.jpg Here is a close-up of the socket I'm having trouble with: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i207/Pad...TD5DashPlug.jpg It's the two projections on the left-hand side which foul the plug. I've just checked the photo on the RS site for 362-8796, and it's the same plug as I have here (which doesn't fit). The other plug (362-8780) fits just fine, and I have the pins (362-8869) here too. Any ideas chaps???
western
Looks like RS or Tyco have changed the design, seems a bit wierd that DJ only got his a few months ago & you can't get the same parts, it's definitly the wrong type.

western
just looked at the pictures on RS's site & both look the same, maybe they've just used a generic picture on the website, PM Diesel_Jim as he said he has some new unused ones that he may let go. Ian M
started fittting my td5 guages, into my old/original panel, fitted the speedo and fuel gauge, everything works fine, apart from everytime i switch the engine off the trip resets! reading back through the topic, both western and mo had this problem! what cured it? Ian
western
Haven't got that problem because I still have to fit my Td5 speedo & fuel/temp gauges.
Ian M
All the stuff on my dash is still working marvellously If only I could find out why it won't save the trip meter reading, minor I know but I like these things to work as they should. Mo Looking at mine the trip reading would need a permanent 12v feed to keep it intact, just increasing the total reading on mine, & everytime I switch off the power supply the trip reverts to a 0.0 reading, it's OK if the power is left on. one of the wires needs a permanent feed via a 5amp fuse, maybe thats the trip save wire. read it here on page
western
With a long weekend here & no rallies to attend, I thought it was time to get my Td5 speedo & other bits fitted, so far I've stripped the old gauges out & set the total distance readings to the same as the old speedo after a brew it's time to sort the wiring/fuses & replace the cowl around the instruments & if the weather holds fit the transducer to the gearbox & thread the wires upto the dash. more later
western
Jamie, question - Does the alarm module do the flashing for the alarm led or is the flashing bit in the speedo already or does the led just illuminate without flashing ?Secondly, I suspect that the seond permanent live (9 on Imperadeiro's picture, 3rd row down) may be the one that saves the trip mileage and the decimal place on the main mileage as neither get saved in either of my speedos (when I switch off the ignition) and I'm only using the permanent live in the second row. We'll see on Saturday Mo Mo, have you had any further success with saving the trip reading when the vehicle is switched off ? I'm fitting my speedo now & connected the 2 x 5amp fuses to a permanent 12v supply, even with everything off the speedo shows the total mileage & trip readings, it only goes out if I disconnect the 12v permannt feed. I'm wondering if the speedo has a internal battery that's low on charge & saves the readings when all is switched off. got the transducer to fit next & remove the old speedo cable
Mo Murphy
Hallo Ralph, Still no luck alas I have a permanent live connected where it should be and if the internal battery isn't charged by now it never will be I resigned myself to it now unless Ian or yourself has had any luck resolving it. I did ask Porny (he has all knowledge TD5) about it but he didn't know why either. I'm concentrating my resources on my TD5 rear tank installation for now. Regards Mo
western
OK, cheers for that, with the 12v feed connected [permanent] the speedo shows a total & trip reading all the time, even with the ignition switched off, maybe I'll leave it like that over the weekend & see what happens, if it doesn't disappear Ill disconnect it & just live with the trip resetting to 0 miles when the 110 is parked up & all off. best go & fit the transducer now & sort it's wiring out. Mo Murphy
I had considered putting Perm 12v to the ign switched live terminal but I was a little concerned about the power drain as the display is backlit all the time too. Have fun with the wires Mo
