Evil J Guano
Under the centre seat of my TDi is this curious bit of equipment, am I being tracked by MI5? Looks factory fitted, and looks like something goes down to gbox, I'm guessing some kind of Tachograph? Has various scart and din type connectors... (Looks like my 90 was first registered by 'Industrial Aggregates' or someone so I guess a Tach would fit) Second question can I remove it easily? Cheers G

BogMonster
Having enlarged the rather blurry photo the writing on the unit indicates it is a Diesel EGR Electronic Control Unit so that is what it is
goddstarr
hi i have no middle seat on my 1997 defender so the black box is fiited straight to the pannel that covers gear box it says diesel EGR electronic control unit so its factory fitted i guess
white90
just chop all the cables to it and remove the entire EGR rubbish. remember to plug the holes on the pipe from the airbox to the turbo

Pete Attryde
Ignorant question: What is an EGR? EGR is exhaust gas recirculation. fitted for emmisions control. fine when it's working. Not so good if it isn't. HTH Pete.

(Yes, i meant to spell scorpion like that...)
