MogLite
The CB for MogLite turned up on Friday Its got a PA function !! That got me thinking about how much fun a PA horn would be. I'm assuming the CB will have an output of about 4w - the same as its transmit power ?? Anyway there is a 1/2 decent PA horn in Maplins for £20 which 30W. So is there a simple power amp I can use that will up the output to match the power of the horn ? Cheap is good, as is being able to be encased in a plastic box or potting compound, the ability to run a second horn for the rear might be useful. FridgeFreezer
Andy, The audio output power will be whatever it puts out through the internal speaker - the transmit power is the RF bit not audio. You shouldn't need an amplifier. Let me put that another way: You shouldn't need an amplifier.
Hybrid_From_Hell
Kin Hell "Andy"... "Needed" and "Amplifier" are not words oftyen seen in the same sentence. Can you get radio mikes with built in 'Anti-Anglosaxon' filters ? Nige
FridgeFreezer
For Andy that would just be a continuous "beeeeeeeeeep"
western
I've got one of those 30 watt PA horns on my truck, it's weather proof and seems to work very well, more than loud/clear enough to be heard at large events, just run it from the CB rig, you'll need a 3.5mm jack plug & some speaker cable to connect it to the rig.
