Most ambitious Christmas project?

oh and my plans -

drop petrol tank filler neck, board over to separate and provide some much needed storage space, fit harnesses, adjust spring hangers and fit the parabolics I picked up at Sodbury. Oh and repair the 4wd system so I actually have a 4x4.

In between that little lot I'm going to try and spend a bit of time doing the family thing ;)

Surviving my operation(disc in the lower back) on Tuesday is one of my main projects. Trying not to bee too much of a nuisance is another one. The neighbors aren't too fond of my new horn for my 110" :

it is the same kind, fed from a 14bar air tank.

Can't work much on the rovers b'cause of the darn back(been bad since March). Oh yes, and I'm going to make the fireworks for new years eve. Making some electrical ignition system for it. Looks great when 50 £1 rockets fly off simultaneously.

So I was wondering; what's the most ambitious project being planned for Christmas?

Working on a 110 hardtop camper conversion, currently plying out the rear...

I suppose the real question is "What's the most ambitious project you planned but didn't do?" 'Cos is was:

  • Cold
  • Raining
  • Shops shut so couldn't get parts
  • Not enough day light (especially when you get into habit of lie-ins. This takes 1 day to get into, 6 weeks to cure).
  • Snowing. (Snowings a long shot. It only ever snows when I'm at work or Hatty's in bits).
  • Can't be arsed.
    or all of the above..........

How right you are!

Sounds brill, I was waiting for a 110 to come charging along that road not a quadbike :hysterical:

Now I suppose the real question should be:

"What's the biggest difference between what you planned against what you actually did?"

Some of my past efforts include:

  • list]Ambition: Fit V8. Actual: Search internet for advice. Get depressed at level of effort. Postpone (indefinitely)
  • Ambition: Fit new bulkhead. Actual: Filler/weld/paint old one
  • Ambition: Fit intermittent wash wipe Actual: burn fingers on soldering iron. blow up maplins kit
  • Ambition: New rear cross member. Actual: Fit cross member (Yipee!). But spend twice as long refitting petrol tank.
  • Ambition: Fix leaking output shaft seals. Actual: Fit new seals. Leaked same as always. (this happens to all new seals)
  • Ambition: Fix spare wheel mounting on back door. Actual: Take one look at pile of rust inside door, fit wheel on bonnet.

That's covered the last couple of Christmas breaks. Actual would, no doubt, have been much more impressive had friends not forced me to stop working for drink/cig/just gassing breaks :D

Well I'm off to Turner Engineering next week with any luck to buy one of their new complete 300TDi heads and get the cam bearings fitted and line bored. I have everything I need to rebuild the engine, so it looks like I'll be doing that over xmas - customers can wait for a change.

At least it's starting to go back together to some degree -

Fitting a set of windows in the 100". Eliminate the leaks from the new door tops. Strip and re-build about three winches, maybe four (including my own). Bit of off roading, spot of rough camping, smidgin of socialising, walk the dog, spend time with the family, service the mowers down at the cricket club and if it's dry roll.scarify and feed the wickets...

And sort out the leaky truckcab window. The seals have gone so it's got 1/2 tube of mastic keeping the weather out
