geoffbeaumont
Just a brief warning - if you put your birthday in your profile, it shows up in the forum calendar, so if you don't want to advertise it to all and sundry, don't enter it. Doesn't seem to be any way to turn the calendar completely off - doesn't seem to be a lot of point when we've got the Events forum.
white90
the clock also appears to be GMT instead of BST
andyb
Can you add more than just birthdays to the calender, like events. Just wondering, cos it shows up 'the next two days' from the calender at the bottom of the main page. If that was extended to show a week then it could be kind of handy.......espcailly for those of us who use the very last minute for event prep
western
the clock also appears to be GMT instead of BST Clock can be adjusted for BST, just tick the daylight savings box
LR90
yes calendar could be good though I couldn't post, wrong rights. Maybe the profile page could be tweaked to just remove the birthday field?
geoffbeaumont
Yes, any events can be added to the calendar - at the moment, you have to be a moderator to add to the calendar.
Des Morgan
But there doesn't seem to be a point in doing all the fripperies, as it will change later on anyway. Not unless Geoff can transfer all the wisdom that is here now.
andyb
Depends if we get another new forum or if just the hosting is changed; don't think anyone knows that just yet.
LR90
Geoff, how about adding some of the events in the events forum just to see what it looks like. Seems pretty easy for those running events to PM the mods if they have an event they'd like adding and it might be a good at a glance listing. Sometime hard to tell form the events forum just what's on each month.
NegevLandRover
Yes, any events can be added to the calendar - at the moment, you have to be a moderator to add to the calendar. You could of course register your event as a "member" and list it's birthday and then your "member's" birthday would be your event's date !!! That would of course be cheating but then....... ?!!!! To see what I mean look at the calender now and you will see "addict's innaguration" (ie. this forums innaguration) is 5/08 - albeit 2004 and not 2005 because the calender will not let one enter the year 2005 yet. Better get me coat ?! Adam
LR90
I see Deano's been adding a few dates in August. They look good. Deano, how about adding Tony's borthday bash and the Shire playday at Brickyln that fridge has posted in events? Please
DEANO3528
Yep will do if no one's beaten me to it.
DEANO3528
Ok I've just updated the Calendar with everything that's currently in the Events Forum. Personally I think they compliment one another and I don't see a problem with the repetition.
LR90
Deano, yes that looks good and like you say the one line on how many birthdays that day seems fine. In fact now its filling up having your brithday listed doesn't seem like such a big deal.
Renny
Doesn't seem to be any way to turn the calendar completely off - doesn't seem to be a lot of point when we've got the Events forum. Why not just leave the calander up and running? It will then advise viewers when an event is due, they can then find the main details in the Events Forum. DEANO3528
Yep I'm all for that, it's easy enough to link to the event forum for follow up info.
Dale Simpkins
Does that mean, I'll get loads of extra birthday prezzies! Where do I sign up?
