missingsid
If this topic is out of line or OT? please Lock, Stop or Bar(rell) it. In this months Total Off Topic magazine there was a letter by a ALRC member who had a well known sounding name stating that his son's Trialer was vandalised post Scruntineering and pre event (presumably the night before)? Apparently a brake line was cut and other less dangerous damage effected presumably in an attempt to remove him from the list of competitors. Obviously this is outragous and lethal behavour and he has contacted the Police, but has our sport become that competative? Surely the Nationals is a place of peace and Brown Ale? A place where like minded people meet to compete in a friendly atmosphere. If the vehicle had been driven without the damage being discovered the possibilities don't bare thinking of! Does anyone know if the facts are as presented in the letter as I am completely astounded? Marc
jsstevo
The facts are true. Sugar was also put in the fuel tank and the sump plug was loosened to the last thread. We were all shocked to find this out at the Nationals. Any true competitor would rather compete against the best and loose rather than putting them out of the competition. At least a fellow trialer lent Neal his motor so he could still play (now that's the ALRC spirit!).
landroversforever
what asshole did that needs to be shot. nice to know someone else lent him annother so he could play
lrfarmer
the only good thing is someone let him drive there truck so he did get to compete but why would any one need to stump so low as to try to win yes some get carryed away with trying to win but all wouldn't cheat(well exept one at nationals). Mo Murphy
That's absolutely diabolical ! I will never understand why winning would mean that much to provoke someone to do such a thing Mo
dollythelw
sadly there are those tiny minded prats in the world that think a plastic cup comes before being a human being
steve_d
I would like to think that this was the act of an avid supporter rather than another competitor and that it took place without the knowledge of the competitor the sabotage was supposed to promote. We have all seen the scene of the loosing boxers mother battering the winner with a handbag so perhaps this is just an extension of that. pugwash
surely there is more here than an idiot competitor- do you do this sort of thing just get one over another competitor?
Daan
The worst I have seen is trying to feed other competitors more beer in order to create a bigger hangover and less performance the day after.....didnt work though! Daan
missingsid
I did wonder if this was personal or even an "anti" loonatic trying to cause a problem to get headlines? I guess the personal suggestion is most likely. Marc.
the_mouse_man
It also beggars belief that somebody would do so may of those things - not satisfied that if it did get going after cleaning out the fuel lines of the sugar it then becomes un-stoppable due to having no brakes. And how would anyone see that as counting as winning - they plainly wouldn't have done to their own mind given what they would have done to get there - discraceful
