4x4ledbury
im being a bit stingy after exhausting my funds on my 200 tdi conversion i have a electric fan out of my old escort i wired her up and it seems preety powerful but is it up to the cooling duties off a 200 tdi i would just like a few opinions or should i splash out and buy a kenlowe with a thermostatic switch so the fan isnt always on blow or suck which i know will be up to the job most of the landy work will be off road and some on and i dont want her over heating if possible
jcwcooper
Dont bother with a kenlowe or anything like that, 200s dont need a huge amount of cooling so if you think the one you have is pritty powerful then stick with it alternatively you could get a Mondeo one, Thats what i use on mine controlled with a X-eng fan switch like this x-fan switch Dave. Hybrid_From_Hell
My views from ownership : Pacet - expensive, the waterproof version are good, but they don't shift as much air as you may wish for or wnat, bit disappointing for the money Kenlowe - currently fitted, basically the quality of the motors would give Britpart a bad name IMVHO, they are horrible cheap motors, esposed to the environment, which in out case means mud water slit and rust, horrible and dreadfully expensive, when I had a motor fail (4 months old) £120 was quoted for a new motor and how long would that last ? In the end I stripped it (that made me see just how nasty the motor / casing / unit was blew it with an airline, balsted it with brake cleaner, fiddled with the rusty bits and it sort of works again, never ever again would I buy a Kenlowe. Mate has S--- fans fitted, dear god do they shoft aire, and are qaulity, can't rememebr the name, but serioulsy are 4 letters and starts with S, seriously I can't recall their name, but when mine fail again (which won't be liong) then its these or something from a scrappie. The other thing to bear in mind is I have a viscous on the inside of the rad, and 2x 15 inch kenlowed on the front side PUSHING through the rad, and most scrappyyard fans will be PULLERS (Behind the rad) so make sure you get what you wnat and don't try having no engine fan and no cowling on a rover V8 as these do work, but as in my case just need a bit of help, HTH Nige

LandyManLuke
Another vote for a Mondeo fan here, easy to mod to fit a tdi radiator, cheap, and robust.
rallycinq
Another vote for a Mondeo fan here, easy to mod to fit a tdi radiator, cheap, and robust. Does the addition of a Mondeo fan allow removal of the viscous unit and a subsequent reduction in fuel consumption? Cheers SPD
jcwcooper
you can remove the viscous fan as for the reduction of fuel consumption........nothing you would notice. Dave.

4x4ledbury
yes i think i will go with the escort fan with one of those ex eng thermo switchs but they are currently out stock i bet the escort fan is no different than one from a mondeo being both fords and both similar sized engines mine was a 1.6 zetec ive note to lose plus it sucks and blows which ever way you wire it
ThreeSheds
plus it sucks and blows which ever way you wire it I don't know how much difference it makes in the real world, but the blades will only really be efficient if used in the same direction as they were designed for.. They will probably be more noisy the wrong way round too. Since the X-Eng controller can do two fans and I want clearance at the rear of the rad, I will be looking for a twin fan pusher unit similar to those found in a Pug 406 when I finally get round to doing mine. p38rr
A Rover 200/400 fan unit fits a treat with its own mounting.
m&mv80
would rangerover air con fans work as push fans mounted in front of the rad, or are they not good enough?
FridgeFreezer
would rangerover air con fans work as push fans mounted in front of the rad, or are they not good enough? No, they're for cooling the aircon rad not the engine.
wee_arthur
No, they're for cooling the aircon rad not the engine. If you had two on a 3.5 v8 standard radiator would it be sufficient (it doesnt really matter to us whether they push or pull)? thanks
Ex Member
Mondeo fan. Fits the radiator very well, move huge amounts of air and is cheap. http://www.landroveraddict.com/smf/index.php?topic=369251.
