What's the crack on the new ones??? I know it's a marmite drivin position etc etc but anyone got experience with the pumas and the 2.2's???

weve got a D4 as our business/farm vehicle, does lots of towing, cattle to market, supplied from builders merchants.

doesent even notice 3.5t behind it.

I'd get a D3 or D4 if your main priority is easily towing.

Cheers for the replies guys, yeah personally I'd have the 2.4 if could find one, I've got me td5 disco which will have the nuts tuned off it once I've done the clutch (and got the cash) but we are thinkin workhorse jump in go down the field come back chuck trailer on, bit of expense but we need reliability, the d3 lacks the latter and the d4 is still out of price range, And I spose they hold their money too

in which case i would look at something a bit older. like a solid 300TDI 110 for a bit less moneys, then as you have budgeted for a newer 110, you could spend the money putting a 2.8TGV in it, which will tow like an animal, and be reliable, and a brand new engine, and you could also put what you want on it to make it ideal for your work. and you vould get a minter 110 with power, for cheaper than a brand new one of the same spec.

i have a TGV (well two actually) and i have to say it pulls well but i would rather tow with my 2.4 over the TGV any day.

2.2 is no different to drive in my experience but i have not done any towing with one.

D4 is leaps and bounds above a D3, esp with Hitch guidance, trailer guidance etc etc, but either do the job of towing very well and better than a td5/2.4/2.2 Def.
