reb78
I seemed to have a pretty constant diesel stain on the side of the 110 around and beneath the filler cap. I bought a new cap and it is still happening. Its only when the tank is full, but i thought the new cap would solve the issue. Any idea on what the problem might be? madrooster
i have the exact issue with my 130 and had the breather checked and all looks OK, so not sure re this either, so any other ideas would be good to try and solve this issue
reb78
I thought the old cap wasnt sealing well enough, hence the new one which feels tighter, but the diesel stain is still there. It never used to do this. The tank vents any pressure through the cap, but it shouldnt leak.
jad
When mine leaked a change of cap sorted it. Was it a new cap you tried? Jad
reb78
Yep. New cap from lrspares. It was in one of their boxes, so not entirely sure on the actual make.

vulcan bomber
had this on my 110 a new filler neck was the cure.
reb78
What do you think the problem with the old neck was David? I had wondered if it was wear on the inside of the rim meaning the tabs on the cap can't pull the cap down tight enough.
vulcan bomber
It wasnt a issue with the cap, that got changed and made no difference. I think the issue on mine was that the brazing that holds the outer most part of the filler neck onto the long tube that goes towards the tank was giving up. Sadly the side of the 110 is plastered in fuel due to the wind and my poor aim with 20 litre veg oil drums.
Fatboy
I'm in the process of rebuilding a 110, under close examination the filler neck had quite a few pin holes in it from corrosion. Mind you, most are behind the panel but I've bought a new one.
Litch
If a new cap & seal haven't fixed it then I would suggest the neck is damaged in some way. Is it bent at all from the filler nozzle going in?
reb78
I guess its time to ask Ralph for the filler neck part number 1989 110 csw.
