Filler cap leak

Recommended Posts

I seemed to have a pretty constant diesel stain on the side of the 110 around and beneath the filler cap. I bought a new cap and it is still happening. Its only when the tank is full, but i thought the new cap would solve the issue.

Any idea on what the problem might be?

I thought the old cap wasnt sealing well enough, hence the new one which feels tighter, but the diesel stain is still there. It never used to do this. The tank vents any pressure through the cap, but it shouldnt leak.

It wasnt a issue with the cap, that got changed and made no difference. I think the issue on mine was that the brazing that holds the outer most part of the filler neck onto the long tube that goes towards the tank was giving up.

Sadly the side of the 110 is plastered in fuel due to the wind and my poor aim with 20 litre veg oil drums.
