Boots or no boots?

Having FINALLY recieved my new Pro-Comp dampers (no thanks to Interlink Express, useless sods that they are) I'm just waiting for the rain to stop before I brave the muddy field to fit them.

Should I fit the supplied boots or not? I can see that the boot provides some protection to the chrome slider rod but on a friends RRC the rubber boots trapped mud and carp behind causing wear :( . So whats best?

Many Thanks

Lewis
