Lewis
Having FINALLY recieved my new Pro-Comp dampers (no thanks to Interlink Express, useless sods that they are) I'm just waiting for the rain to stop before I brave the muddy field to fit them. Should I fit the supplied boots or not? I can see that the boot provides some protection to the chrome slider rod but on a friends RRC the rubber boots trapped mud and carp behind causing wear . So whats best? Many Thanks Lewis
FridgeFreezer
They last fine without, and as you say the boots are known to trap mud. A tip I heard was a smear of grease around the rod every so often keeps the rod & seals happy.

istruggle2gate11
No boots for me also, a good clean now and again, grease up and a good workout when not going off road else the muck sticks to the grease and ruins seals.
Jon White
No Boots - had them fitted to mine origionally and they fill p with mud that never properly dries out and the rods corrode. Jon

simonr
The boots look bling! Make you look like a proper grow'd up off roader with chunky accessories. OK - I'll shut up! Si P.S. I think that's mostly what they are for.

Hybrid_From_Hell
Hmmmmmmmmm I would have thought a certain 'Gimp loving forum member' * would have been getting trying to get all the cast off black latex smeely rubber boots for "Future Usage" Nige *Special New "Gimp Icon"
bill van snorkle
The boots are supplied for good reason. Fit them so that you can't see the shafts bending when the suspension articulates due to the pathetically small bushings pro comp shocks have. Bill.
