Bowie69
Amazing... how long had it been stood? Was there any clutch drag?
CwazyWabbit
I reckon you'll grease the splines of every clutch you ever fit after that fight! (not that you fitted that one) So new clutch and new bell housing now ...... and a cup of tea
Eightpot
Been stood a year or two, I've only got it on/off a trailer and round the workshop, but the clutch seemed fine. Only had to get the engine out to fix a leaky rear oil seal. Looks like it might be a very old clutch though, so had while to fuse itself together. Anderzander
Amazing ! And well done. How big a hole did you drill to be able to get to the bolts ? I'm presuming fairly large unless your day job is micro surgeon ...
Eightpot
Not that big a hole actually - I just measured the diameter of the bolt hole spacing on a spare clutch plate, then marked that distance out on the bellhousing. I think a 17mm hole was ample to get a slim socket through. Just a matter of turning the crank till a bolt lined up and five mins later job done! Much harder getting the pigging clutch plate of though!
discomikey
Goodness! i didnt have that problem even when splitting the engine/gearbox from a TE20 that had spent 25 years in a hedge!!! never heard of this before either!
Soren Frimodt
Yes that is quite amazing! Lesson learned I suppose, lube up on assembly. But the environment in there must really have been salty and/or wet for a long period for such corrosion. Not a common problem in Spain I don't think!
