  1. Set of simex, position wheel on eco-terrorist, floor accelarator and dump clutch. Sorry...
  2. Careful - you might upset Michelle, and then we wont get our proper graphic! The whole theme on this forum, including the header, is makeshift at the moment - I believe Michelle is doing a proper logo (as opposed to the quick hack of the Invision logo that I did...), but we're concentrating most of our efforts on getting moved to somewhere a bit more stable than Canaca's ropy servers. That said, I don't think we're planning on changing it too much - a lot of people seem to like the clean and 'professional' look of this theme. Mainly because it makes it easy to get away with skiving in the office!
  3. That's a thought...no way I can afford a 'proper' winch anytime soon, but a hand one? I only need something for rescueing myself when I screw up (so not very often, obviously ). Have to look into this.
  4. Something like this? (Blatantly nicked from: Magnesium Elektron) Hmm, wonder if they'd do me a set of tubular manifolds like that?
  5. Ditto - I spend quite a bit of time up there caving. Well, I should do - haven't been up much this summer. They really should give me another reason to go there and spend tourist money
  6. Nige, with your taste for OTT metalwork, maybe try a shipbuilder?
  7. Photos from Wheels in the Woods here - here are one or two highlights. 'Fraid I still haven't got myself a decent camera, but Dad was using a better one, so hopefully I'll have some decent quality shots in a few days. Spectacular scenery: Routes from the very easy: To the more taxing: To the downright interesting:
  8. Do it the old fashioned way - a still over an open fire Can I come and watch the explosion?
  9. BP garage on Longbridge Lane (Birmingham) was closed, with out of use tags on all the pumps, when I passed it on the way back from work. Sadly I'm on LPG now - I got to work from home last time on account of having no petrol for the car
  10. Thanks guys - it was a good day out. Great views, mix of very easy and quite challenging stages (there did seem to be a bit of overlap between red and black routes...). Dad says he's bringing his Discovery as well next time. Should have some piccies shortly. Only had to be rescued once (Dad was driving, so I'll blame him ) - I think we could have got out under our own steam, but there was a fair chance we'd have rolled instead so we opted for a tow.
  11. It's all a cunning plan to keep the server load down
  12. Monkey see, Monkey do... Or naming and shaming the cretin responsible for todays outage. That'll be me then Sorry guys - I changed the forum to use the new www.lr4x4.com domain without check with Trevor (lr90) how he'd got it set up. Things didn't quite meet in the middle and you went round in a loop and finished up back on the home page every time you tried to do anything. Unfortunately the admin site was also affected which is why it took us a few hours to get things back up and running (I couldn't just change it back how it was). I'll go sit in the corner with the dunce hat on...
  13. Any up to date forum software will offer pretty much the same features as this one - when we needed to get this site up and running as quickly as possible I had a choice of two that I could install from the point and drool install panel for my web space, and this was the more full featured. The package that Trevor was considering (still is, I think) for the green forum looks to be at least as good as this one.
  14. I can answer that one. Entertaining titles, insulting changes to your posts...
  15. It's been suggested before (and not by me, but I can't remember who to credit) but going forward we could look into accompanying the forum with an online magazine, with articles authored by forum members, maybe a few regular slots and we could perhaps talk a few recognised experts to write on their field. Great PR for them if we've a decent readership, which seems almost guaranteed, so I'd guess many would be happy to write for free, especially if they've a commercial interest.
  16. Well, I paid £3,500 for my '93 K Vogue SE a year ago. Bought from a local garage and advertised at £4000. Slightly less mileage at the time (low 120s IIRC), same colour, air suspension bladders were shot but in my ignorance I didn't pick that up at the time. Reasonably tidy body work but definitely not mint, leather with memory seats (minor problems with the drivers seat switch). Excellent chassis, decent lower tailgate, upper's definitely been replaced. Driving lights were missing from spoiler and the stalk on the dichromatic rear view mirror was knackered. Tyres had plenty of tread but were eleven years old and starting to perish (didn't spot that either - it's amazing what a bit of tyre black will cover ) Aside from one that got a puncture they're still on the car, though. Same problem with the cruise (didn't know about that when I bought it either - it worked on the test drive). Has a tow hitch, dog guard, hi spec OEM stereo (the Clarion one with the seperate amp and sub) but no CD changer. Working air con. Standard OEM alarm (had to fit a Thatcham approved one to keep my insurers happy). Heated seats don't work but everything else does. No service history but seemed to have been generally well looked after and ran well. ABS and EAS working fine. No sign of off roading/greenlaning - I suspect it spent most of it's life towing horse boxes. Didn't have any of the aftermarket mods yours has, but did have a good quality venturi type LPG conversion, with under floor tanks in place of the original petrol tank, and a small underwing petrol tank to replace that. It's not necessarily what I'd pay for the same car now, but I guess it gives some clue as to what it might shift for?
  17. 2 of each on each side? Mine's only got four total! The coolant pipes have two brackets - one goes on the same bolt as the front right fuel rail bracket, the other gets it's own bolt, but I'd guess it's the same as the fuel rail ones.
  18. Anyone know what size the bolts that hold down the fuel rail and heater coolant pipes on a 3.9 V8 (RR if it makes any difference) are? The ones on mine seem to be a bit small for the holes, so I probably mixed them up with something else
  19. We're currently hosted on a package I already had when we needed to get this forum up and running quickly, as that was the quickest option and (less importantly) zero cost. In theory it should be up to the job, as it's Canaca's top of the line package with ridiculous amounts of storage space and bandwidth. Unfortunately they still host it on some old PC the office junior refused to use any more (okay, I'm exagerating, but you get the idea). The current situation isn't ideal, but it'll do until we all know where we're actually headed with the forums and can make some proper plans.
  20. That's because Canaca's servers aren't up to the job. We've got shedloads of bandwidth and storage space but hardly any processing power (so we'd never actually be able to use the bandwidth I've paid for ).
  21. One of my friends named mine. Her rules: Starts with the same initial as you Sex has to suit the car's character and the relationship you have with it (?!!) Must evoke the car's character So in this case it had to start with a G, was definately female (unreliable, attention seeking ) and had to make you think strong, wilful, rugged. Vicky struggled a bit coming up with anything decent that started with a G, so she cheated - the Range Rover's named Gemima
  22. Got more important things to do right now. The avatar was on my old site, which is now closed down - I just need to upload everything to the new site (same domain, just on the same web space as this forum) to get most of it back up and running, but...
  23. Let's not jump to conclusions - Trev is not yet a free agent, and I doubt he'd be doing things this way if he could avoid it.
