  1. I may end up doing that Mo - but the reason I'm not jumping to it is twofold: the transfer know I have is pristine and has separated from an insert that is threaded and screws onto the shaft. So my concern is that if that call be pulled out of this one it perhaps can on any replacement ? and if thats the case a lock nut is pointless and I need to look into strong glues. Araldilte sounds like a good option then - thanks. I'll get some pictures and post them up - at the moment I'm considering enlarging the slot on one side of the tube that fits onto the gear lever so it more closely matches the angle the gear lever sits at.
  2. I think it's just a topic that's been done to death. The best quality springs tend to be land rover ones and is you search there is a spring list on a web site that's referenced from here a lot. It gives the spring length and poundage - so you can look what you have now and look for further options with a higher spring rate. Also referenced from this site a lot is an online spring calculator - so if you weigh your truck front and rear, deducting the un-spring weight (which you can estimate by searching on here), you can then work out what the change in ride heigh will be from fitting those springs. Shocks wise - everyone has an opinion but it's pretty much as said above. I have OME and they are excellent. The built in site search is quite poor but if you put into google:: Site:lr4x4.com hd spring list Or the like you'll find lots and lots of opinions given before
  3. How did the cab come up ? I know sofa is gentle but I guess it can still uncover surprises. I plan to use soda on my S1 - I tried some on the galvanised fitting and it did a really good job of cleaning them up well without making them look new (or damaging it of course). Be good for your Willys
  4. Maybe whoever spent all that money on it just saw that customs video ?
  5. That's funny !Maybe we could open a 'just giving' page and all put in for some sort of BUPA membership for Nige ?
  6. Thank you both - that's good to know !! I nearly bought a D2 transfer box for mine a while back - glad it fell through as I had no idea my PTO wouldn't have fitted.
  7. My friend had a standard one fail just recently on a lane - just fatigue from poor material quality by the look of it. It's that that, coupled with the stresses I perceive mine to have with the long travel set up, that has prompted my desire to replace it.
  8. In line with your branding idea then: XS Jet Wiper XS Wiper Jet Or XS Jet Wipe Personally I preferred my own branding exercise for you earlier in the thread - 'Wax-Cat products - no other go to greater pains in R&D'.
  9. Thank you ! All of my set up is in the standard position - so to get a fit will require deviating from that. I'll pop a picture up or how it's pulled the knob off so you can see what I mean about needing to bond it back on and my concern about the adhesive strength of that being the limiting factor. I really appreciate all the help here. Thank you.
  10. Welcome - they're on my list. Just not reached that point yet.
  11. Have you seen this ? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/10518742/Windscreen-wipers-to-be-consigned-to-history.html Could you develop something like this please
  12. I was thinking it was probably unrealistic to get them re-done - until I saw the picture of the staff on your link. I know think it's well worth a trip over.
  13. I agree with all of that. I always err on the side of caution. I believe I drove Strata Florida a very short time apart from that Discovery that horrifically was swept away killing one of the occupants. Very sobering.
  14. That picture is a River - though seldom has a strong current. Apologies I was just chipping in on the general wading depth rather than the dangers of a current.
  15. That's encouraging !! Any suggestions based on what you did to fix it ?
  16. Thank you everyone. It is definitely the R380 item. I have been putting it in 5th and I did remove the stud. I'll work through the instructions and see what happens. The gear knob coming off the (presumably) threaded insert has kind of put a spanner in the whole thing though. I need to bond that back on to be any use first.
  17. This is the sort of moment where I always think - I should buy a snorkel:
  18. Asinine questions coming up: I've been waiting to buy an x-defend gear stick lock for ages - and in the absence of Foundry getting any in I jumped at the chance to get one 2nd hand. Doing that meant I didn't realise I was missing the security nuts and the instructions. Getting it to fit has been an arse - the angle seems wrong in that when the main gear lever is pushed forward the tube cutouts really gouge into it. Anyhow what's happened is that the transfer nob lever just come off under that tension. It's left what must be an insert on the shaft. So three questions if I may : Can anyone recommend a glue to use to fix it back on ? Does the fact that the knob can be simply prised off by breaking the adhesive bond not make it useless ? Anyone any ideas as to why the angle seems so wrong ? I wouldn't have though moving the main lever on its spline would alter the angle at all.
  19. That sounds promising mike ! anyone have a part number ? The only standardish looking ones I could find were these : http://bit.ly/1m2wPVa
