  1. It's only a matter of time I feel..... Only a matter of time....
  2. Blimey !! I mentioned you'd painted everything before - but that was before you painted EVERYTHING. have you done the seats and dash like that too ? Save wiring any gauges up !
  3. Bloody hell Dan ! It's gorgeous and I'm not even that keen on jeeps!
  4. Excuse my ignorance but are ABS callipers built with separate circuits for the pistons ? If so you could use a set with one of the hydraulic lines running to a hand operated master cylinder as a parking brake ?
  5. I won't repeat what I said in the other forum. I'll duck out.
  6. For info everyone: this is the other thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic25336.html?sid=0cb3ac9a9e82a9cd213ebbc6707c3922
  7. Excellent ! Worked for me too. Thanks Lewis - I can go and watch the Hollinsclough clip now too.
  8. I'll have to find a laptop - these videos won't play on my phone or tablet..... :-/
  9. As clumsy as that SP thread was - it wouldn't put me off buying one though.
  10. Is it worth considering swapping out the axle to a later one ? At least that way you can find people to do the install and any future repairs you might done.
  11. It's worth checking the flange too - if it's scored the oil will migrate past the seal regardless of it being new.
  12. Never seemed to work on mine. The drain hole was clear but the oil always just seemed to migrate into the pads or the drum.
  13. Incidentally, I also think the drum is fine. Mine kept failing due to an oil leak I couldn't seem to cure. I bought the x-brake after it started to run away down a fell one time - and I thought 'never want that again'.
  14. On the X-brake front - mine rattled and I could never get a good adjustment as described above: adjust the cable so the bite was good and strong and the pads were too close - back them off and it'd fail the MOT. However - I stuck with it and fixed the pad rattle by following Si's silicone instructions to the letter. Did it inside with a vice. I also re-set the arm on the splined shaft, moving it by quite an amount, and that resolved the pull issue. The pads could sit right off the disk with no tension in the cable - but when I pulled the lever they pulled on much stronger. Now it's fantastic and I wish I'd done this years ago.
  15. Apologies for not updating this thread. I actually ended up joining a group buy on another forum ... It won't adjust your speedo, I believe it will let you put a different map on that holds the msb config. tune - though someone else would need to confirm that the map and the config. tune are bundled together. I don't know about the BCU though I'm afraid.
  16. I have a cheap circular chop saw ... I wonder if I can get cutting discs to fit it ..... Never thought that might even be a possibility.
  17. Would you share the set up you used to test your fuel pressure ?
  18. I have a hobbit you could borrow ? So there are two bolts - but it came off undamaged with just removing the one ?
  19. I did this to a Peugeot - the battery +ve was black and the earth red. I didn't work that out until the smoke stage. No damage apparent - and that was a few months ago.
