  1. A lot of the 200 tdi mounts are awful - way too hard. I bought loads of brands for my 80. They were almost all awful.
  2. The Td5 engine mounts are good …
  3. It may end up getting a lot of tax breaks in some countries though ..
  4. Watch out for that yellow snow !
  5. It is .. though I had only parked there for 10 minutes. When I did the trailer wiring I had to disturb the filler pipe - and it was looking like it might be starting to perish, so I’ll give it a clean off and start there. When it stops raining. ☔️
  6. I have a 1.2 in a Td5 with a map - in all normal circumstances it’s perfect, but I had a 500kg trailer on it with a 1600kg tractor on it recently - and that needed the clutch working on some hill starts. I’m started to think the ideal would be a Roverdrive with a 1.4 - if I could leave it in high for normal driving, and drop it down for towing .. seems like I’d get the best of both worlds. Though that said I don’t tow very often.
  7. The turners kit gets great reviews ! It gets used a lot on old Massey Ferguson’s, and they rate it.
  8. That’s true !! Hopefully those things are in balance 😊
  9. The weight of his smile will need decent springs to support too.
  10. Hello and welcome .. I think there is a big preference element here - and some of your preference will be driven by things we don’t know - like how you are going to use it etc … So I think I would probably suggest two things: The first is, if you can, drive a few of both of them. The 300 is older - it’s noisier and slower - but it’s simpler and more basic too. My own experience is that the 300’s were a bit better made.. but the later Td5’s had nicer dashboards and instruments etc. There are more things we could compare and contrast - but I do think they are not just binary / better. It’s more about what do you like and what do you want from the vehicles - so try and drive some. Personally … I love the Td5. The second thing I’d suggest is that condition is much more important than if it’s a 300 or Td5. A really good 300 will be better in almost every way than a dog rough, mistreated, Td5 …. and thus make a better purchase. A car that’s been looked after, is honest, straight, good condition, rot free, and mechanically sound is the primary basis for your choice. So I would suggest you have a clear budget - and just buy the best Defender you can.
  11. Just re- reading this as I’m about to buy a trailer that needs a new floor. I can’t seem to find many places local to me (Lancashire) that sell Buffalo Boards or decent lengths of Scaffold Planks. I did wonder if there were any plastic products out there - not many and bloody expensive seem to be the answer for those.
  12. I saw someone on YouTube fitting one to a 300tdi, and they removed a bolt for better access and use a torx Allen key to get them out. When I’ve had limited space I’ve used the kind of Torx bit that fits in a ratchet - but put a ratchet spanner on it. It’s a bit fiddly, but fits in a tight space and gives good leverage.
  13. Am I missing something ? https://www.autosparks.co.uk/land-rover-defender-90-110-chassis-wiring-harness-9
  14. That’s a shame, because they are very very good.
  15. I know you’ve ordered the parts .. but I’d be thinking galvanised at this point…
  16. Glad you’re enjoying your work 😊 Tough luck on the bolts though - were they new when you rebuilt it ?
  17. Thanks both - they actually do a repair kit for the OEM seats with the original connectors. https://www.exmoortrim.co.uk/o-e-m-compatible-seat-heaters-pairs-kit-2000-onwards.html That maybe the way to go .. 🤔. I need to read up on how the seats come to bits.
  18. I have puma factory heated seats in my 90 and both seats stopped working ages ago .. I finally got round to checking if they were getting 12v today. Both are getting about 11.5 volts (which I guess is just lost through the relays and wiring. I’m really ignorant on these - should I be getting continuity through the circuit in the seats ? The easiest thing (purchase wise) would be to just replace all the pads .. but having never took seats to bits I’m erring on just replacing what’s broken if I can don’t it.
