just want to double check
was going to change the sump gasket on my 200tdi while i had all of the oil drained,
called a few places and they said that theres no replacement for the gasket and that i
should use some kind of mastic sealent
is this correct ?
thats the extra pulley thing that i have
looks astho it would be easier to use that and mounting bracket for the alt
take it it doesnt really matter that the crank pulley has a bigger
diameter than the power steering pulley ?
someone i know recently had a really strange rumbling noise on his mota
really sounded as tho it was the T box finally tracked the noise down to a bent
rear axle which was putting loadsa stress on the diff , replacement axle all sorted
would check the rear end b4 paying out that sort of money
can take the pulley off and weld another 1 onto it,
wasnt sure if there would be any probs with the bearing in the pump
from running somthing else on it
my crank has the 2 v pulleys but using the back 1 looks astho it would be really close to
rubbing on the casing (front 1 has the wather pump and power steering)
Anyone know if theres a double waterpump pulley for a 200 tdi disco engine
want to move my alternator to the other side of the engine and was thinking
about fitting a double pulley on the water pump, does anyone see any probs with doing this ?
i have the extra pulley that fits onto the plate in front the diesel pump (guessing for aircon)
would it be better to work off that some how ?
Cheers
Nick
the shaft on a v8 5spd is longer than the diesel 1 not sure if its just the long stick boxes that were on the v8
4 spd boxes are stronger than the 5spd
u could fit and o/d
I 3/4 snapped a shaft at the diff end a few weeks ago couldnt get the bl00dy fing out
ended up welding a long m10 both onto the end of the shaft then drilling a 10mm hole thro
a piece of angle, put the angle onto the bolt then do the nut up and it'll pull the shaft out ,
ended up using an air gun cos mine had twisted about half a turn b4 it broke
from what i remember you would need any disco 300tdi axle's 200's are 10 spline and 24spline shafts dont fit a 10 spline axle (so i've been told)
as far as i know there all the same width later 10 and 24 rear axle have both shocks pointing forward, on the later front axle the amount of bolts that hold the swivels on is increased to 7 from 6 (atleast you could tell if your mate has a later pair)
Nick
i had the same prob no pressure on the pedal at all loadsa fluid in the pot
decided to bleed it and now have loadsa pressure again
still working so i'll keep spare cylinders n fluid in the car til it breaks again
what size tyres are you running ?
i have a disco tbox on my 200tdi and 35's
and unless i'm in the fast lane on the m25 i struggle
to pull 5th gear (not played with the pump tho)
1st gear is good when you actually get moving
but i wouldnt want to tow anything on the road
with it
since fitting stupid size tyres (35's) i've done 4 diffs always the centre pin and 1 front shaft only done about 7 meetings personally i'd prefer to snap a shaft but thats only cos i'm running out of diffs
even had the grinder around the rear (standard) shafts to weaken them and still not broken 1
my disco is a 97 300tdi just bought the cam belt kit from paddocks n they didnt mention anything about needing a
kit
would mine of been done by landrover as it has flrsh ?
