Fitting a Log Burner in a garage
Cornish Rattler replied to Cornish Rattler's topic in Tools and Fabrication
It's basicerly an extension lead perminantly plugged into the house and I just flick the socket switch when I go in the garage and run what I can off it mainly lights and a compressor at the same time I have a bench grinder and small piller drill plugged in but normally switch them off when using the compressor, not ideal I know but as for electric heaters I would rather go the log burner way TBH but thanks for that though -

Fitting a Log Burner in a garage

The problem I have with an electric heater is I live in a council house and limited to how much electric I can pull before I start tripping the fuse box in the house, if it was my own house I would have the garage wired up properly so I could pull as much as I wanted and not have to switch things off to use something else, plus good heater pull loads of amps which I don't have and all the domestic heaters I have tried have been useless up to now -
Hi guys Got myself ready to fit the ladder frame gasket and sump gasket onto the 200tdi engine I am working on and realised that the ladder frame gasket is missing from the gasket set I bought ages ago so need the part number please so I can order one A.S.A.P.

Fitting a Log Burner in a garage
Cornish Rattler replied to Cornish Rattler's topic in Tools and Fabrication
TBH I am in the garage 1-2 days (8-16 hours ) a week so it should be easy to run and with it being a small burner think it would be ideal for what I want it for -
Hi guys Been thinking for a while now about fitting a log burner in my garage and with having the flu recently probably caused by working in the garage with little to no heat I have decided to buy one, I quite fancy a JAO13S its a 5.5kw burner and my garage is 18'6" x 18'3" but before I buy does anyone have a log burner in there garage and what kw is your burner and size of garage, basically I am trying to find out if the log burner I want will heat up my garage as most reviews just mention about heating up a living room or similar and can't get a decent answer, so just thought I would ask what do you think

Off this week so I decided to start removing the cyl head, timing case, sump and ladder frame, checked the bearings and pistons for play and I couldn't find any at all, really pleased so tomorrow I can start cleaning the engine down where we couldn't get with the jet wash then start building it back up again obviously with new seals and gaskets and a Disco timing case ready for fitting into the chassis -

Other than needing a stumpy would the gearbox and tranny box fit the same mounts, also which rear prop would I need -
Hi guys We didn't get round to referbing the gearbox ( lt77 ) when we did the chassis swap but plan to once the 2a is finished but when we do I quite fancy fitting an R380 instead and just wondered whats involved, new Richards 4 cylinder chassis, fitted with a disco 200tdi engine what do you think.

Next week hopefully I will be able to start working on the tdi engine again as I have been battling this cold I have had this past 3 weeks then once Christmas is over and done with I will order a log burner and everything I need to fit it into my garage to keep me nice and warm in the future -
Is the ball hight set right

Yep bit far that from me but thanks

No matter which way you look at it they are always going to be over priced an half decent one can be anything between in need of a full restoration or fully restored, we paid £2,000 for one in need of a full restoration but supposedly in half decent nick so unless you stumble on someone selling one who doesn't know what they have got I would expect to spend some money on one

Yeah when we bought the heater early this year it must have been a bit warmer than it is now and after having it on for an hour then we thought we had cracked it as the garage felt a lot warmer which I was happy with but now the weather is colder it doesn't seem to do much other than heat up the area immediately in front of it and where I am working on the bench is about another 3 foot away from it and I can't really move the heater closer as it would always be in the way hence why I want to go with a log burner -
Yeah I have looked at his car and it has one of those fold away type balls on it which to me looks right so I think when they went to lift the handle there is a button to press in to allow the handle to lift up and didn't press it as I have used the trailer since and everything works fine

Yeah I have been using a Honeywell 3000w heater but it's useless and very heavy on the electric hence why I am thinking of a log burner -
If you have a compressor buy an air grease gun they are great for this
