Hi guys
Just thought I would ask this as this festive season I am off 24/25/26 and 29 Dec and 1st and 2nd Jan and want to go off roading with a mate and his grand son as the grand son has never been off roading before so just wondered if anyone has any dates over the festive season for either Silverdale, Weston Coyney, Wildor, Frickley or Woodlands ( Tonge ) please
I am assuming without them the engine would be very thirsty on juice as the valves wouldn't be opening and closing as they should, on fuel it was like running a V8 doing between 18-20mpg
Hi guys
Been stripping the Def 200tdi engine today and noticed when I removed the rockers with shaft there was no valve caps / cups between the valves and rockers, now when I stripped the Disco 200tdi engine a while back there was cups / caps between the valves and rockers.
Is there a reason for this or is my Def engine missing these
Mine went like that ( 2.5td with a Def 200tdi fitted ) as the FIP had been tweaked to max and possibly the turbo aswell the engine had loads of power but down to 18mpg on runs like you big tyres but think it was more the FIP and inj's getting tired, took the engine out to fit a Disco 200tdi engine not quite as powerfull but 32mpg.
The old Def 200tdi is going into the s11a project we are doing so will get the FIP and inj's done for then aswell as a recon'd turbo as its pretty worn
What sort of state was the gearbox in? Is it original
Yeah the G/box is original but as the vehicle was a runner but not drivable we didn't get chance to try the gearbox out but my mate said it looked pretty good inside and just changed a couple of bearings and resealed it
Yeah if we was keeping the 2a I would do that but the 2a will be sold once its done to part fund my sons wedding hence why we are doing it together
Getting the gearbox back on Saturday so hopefully should have it fitted on Monday, got the engine on the bench ready for stripping probably start doing that once the gearbox is in
Some are made just to slot into the hole where the under seat panel would go so you can swap it over again easily, other's are made to be fasten down, mine is the slot in type but I have fastened it in and I raised it a bit so I could rest my arm on it whilst driving
Forgot to say son was off last weekend too so him and his missus fitted the new fuel tank and brought all the bodywork in to remove all the lights and badges off to then take to her dads to prep the bodywork ready for paint, will need to replace the X members on the tub once its back aswell
Took the g/box to my mate's for him to rebuild last weekend so hopefully next weekend we will get it back and get it fitted, going to start stripping the TDI engine this weekend
I remember years ago when I was a kid my dads work mate asked him to do some work on his car a ( Triumph Herald ) and at the time my dads work mate towed a little home made camping trailer and the tow ball was very very small must have been at least 24-25mm, never seen one since.
Ordered some bits the other day which are starting to come in now so hopefully in the next week or so we can start to do a bit more work on it have the gearbox done and fitted then start work on the 200tdi engine that's going in it from my 90
Right I have asked my neighbor if he lifted the lever on the hitch and said they did so I will wait till weekend and have a look at his dads car as he comes every weekend but they have done the job they wanted it for now so the trailer isn't needed now but its still puzzling though
Yeah that's what I am thinking, I know R.D.X. do an LED flasher unit with a slogan saying ( the one that works ) and that has always stayed in my head wondering if the wipac ones are rubbish but the RDX one is twice the price but if it does what it says on the tin its probably worth getting
Sorted, my new L.E.D. flasher unit came today so I fitted it straight away and its sorted now indicators and gauges are now working again, the only down side is it was advertised as a Wypac one but when it arrived it was a BP one but tbh I always thought that there is a connection between Wypac and BP as regards electrical parts, so I will just have to see
Hi guys
Son has finally got round to ordering the bits he should have ordered weeks ago, anyway we need the part numbers please for the steering relay fixing bolts and nuts, forgot to order them last time when ordering the last lot of stuff
That's what I was thinking not opening the hitch properly, ok cheers guys for conferming the ball size I will show him how to or mite do the job for him and save my trailer from getting smashed to bits.
Remember my dad lending a neighbor our caravan once and when we got it back the rear skirt was ripped out due to the van lifting the back of the car ( Morris Marina Est ) on a hump back bridge in Devon
Hi guys
My next door neighbor has asked if his dad can borrow my trailer and I wasn't there at the time but when he tried to hitch the trailer up to his car his tow ball was too big, mine is a std 50MM ball hitch and I didn't no of a bigger ball but his car is a pretty new Kia, any idea's as I am a bit
