So, little bit done this morning, but that will have to do as going away for the next several days First some ring gear removal then starting the lathe work My lathe just coping with the diameter of the tdi flywheel centre bored out to fit 1uz crank Then started machining down thickness to get 1uz ring gear the same distance from starter as it was on flexi plate thicknessing completed regards Stephen

  7. Steel is not a problem, thank you, however it would need to be harder than mild steel, making my own will probably be a last resort will see how I get on with the tdi one first regards Stephen
  8. Not enough meat for that in my opinion especially with all the extra gg's going through it Regards Stephen
  9. @jad Hi When you built Koya, how did you fasten on the flywheel to the 1uz crank, did you drill out crank holes and re-tap to tdi size or use 1uz bolts TIA regards Stephen
  10. Was already thinking along the sleeve lines, however I'm going to ask @jad how he fitted his tdi modified flywheel into the 1uz crank, Waterproofing may have to take place, probably going to have to change timing belt as engine has been stood for a while, as of writing I don't t know if engine is the interference or non interference with regards to timing belt failure Regards Stephen
  11. On the tdi, flywheel hole centres are the same as 1uz, but the 1uz bolts are a smaller diameter, do you make some custom bolts or do you drill out the crank locating holes and re-tap to the landrover flywheel locating bolt size ? Regards Stephen
  12. Stupid bloody place to put a starter motor in my opinion, inlet manifold to remove to change it... regards Stephen
  13. Also ring gear is held on with just a few tacks on one side so that will be easily removed to fit onto modified tdi flywheel regards Stephen
  14. Ha, that would be fine but the bench is inside the garage not outside...lol Regards Stephen
  15. On an initial look see and putting a short Lt77 bell housing up against engine, things don't look too far away, should be relatively straightforward to knock up an adapter regards Stephen
  16. So because I'm stupid, I took off the viscous coupling and put it down, not appreciating anything about the oil inside Now my bench is covered deep joy and happiness regards Stephen
  17. Anything I don't need you can have Regards Stephen
  18. Lifting operations dont worry @Ed Poore its really just to get it out of the way at the moment, I'm not racing you...honest... Will most likely strip some unwanted bits off ie; cut off hoses, air conditioning pump etc I suppose its also in a good position to strip off viscose coupling and get some decent measurements for the adapter I will be manufacturing Regards Stephen
  19. Bent my lightweight one to a comfortable position, bends easily, however I would make sure you have minimal stalk between your fingers when you bend and do it in stages moving finger position as you manipulate it so the point of bend is not always in the same place, dead easy to do in reality Regards Stephen
  20. Ha, you knew what you were doing..........giving me a drive of that infernal machine of yours.......lol Regards Stephen
