  1. Range Rover Blues; I got round to putting a few photos up and the following should explain; http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=65865 I am chuffed to bits with it!
  2. Oh, wow, that website is an awesome find Scube! I've just bought myself a rather rotten CSK so that's going to come in handy
  3. Thanks for all the replies guys, I went to look at a few P38's yesterday. The first one I went to look at was in a terrible state, bits of trim falling off. We then drove further on to a 2001 Vouge SE 4.6 in gold. This was a very nice example but not without faults. I took it for a test drive (as did my old man who had come along for the ride). It went well but didn't stun me, the inside was a very nice place to be. It looked like the heater was leaking on the drivers footwell, the engine was making that knackered idler pulley noise and there were a few spots of corrosion on the rear arch. The dealer was willing to take an offer if we did the work ourselves (no stranger to this approach). We retired to my house for a bit of deliberation when I recieved a phone call regarding an avenue I'd all but given up on. I have now bought a Range Rover, it's a bit of a project but fulfills a bit of a dream for me. More will be revealed when I can get some photos up Thanks again for all your help.
  4. Hmm, this is all very good advice I've found a 2001 4.6 Vogue at a nearby dealers that I'm going to have a look at on Saturday, I'm not likely to buy this one but it's more to get a feel for them! Cheers guys and I'll let you know how I get on.
  5. I've got a 1998 3.9 on LPG (underslung tanks, single point) It's been very good, had a few of the usual issues with regards sunroof and spider unit but has overall been a good car to own. They certainly represent value for money in my opinion. I'm actually looking at replacing mine as my daily driver but am considering keeping it and turning it into a greenlane truck.
  6. One thing that worries me a little is the general cost of running compared to a classic, has anyone made a comparison between a 3.9 Softdash on LPG and a 4.6 P38 on LPG?
  7. Interesting views and not exactly what I was expecting! I'm not really up with the P38 so is there anything I need to be looking for? Any changes past a certain date that might be worth aiming for? What sort of optioins are there for the after-market diags? Electronics don't really scare me all that much, just aslong as I'm not going to get dumped at the side of the road scratching my head on regular occasions. I need to go and drive a P38, might try and find one on a forecourt this weekend. Cheers guys
  8. I've decided that I want another Range Rover but I can't decide which one. Having owned several Classics and worked on even more I'm no stranger too them, I still really miss my last one. I've been looking at the late SoftDash classics. I've also been tempted to have a look at P38's as they seem to represent more "metal for money". This is going to be my daily and as such will be fitted with LPG, I need it to be fairly reliable. If I were to buy a RRC it would most likely be subject to a total strip down and rebuild. Any ideas from people?
  9. What model of Discovery do you have? Cheers
  10. It probably depends how much the tin worm has nibbled away from it too
  11. How do you find the webasto heater? Are you using it to compliment the standard heater on cold mornings?
  12. Asuming this is a RRC? how long does it keep running for?
  13. Hi mate,

what sort of condition are the seats in?

what sort of price would you be looking to get for the seats?

I don't suppose the clock works does it too?

    Cheers

    Pete

  14. Contact Adhesive, Evostick I think is what I used back then. The carpet also stops that "drumming" noise you get in the hardtops
  15. Fit a petrol engine or use some ear plugs On a serious note, I soundproofed my first Series 3 using felt, carpet or large pieces of rubber. It was fairly effective in places and it helped to insulate it slightly too. I found carpeting the inside of the roof stopped a lot of the condensation. I haven't bothered with my current Series 3 though.
  16. Little late to the game here, I'm hanging a Series 3 box off the back of my 3.9 using a Milner adaptor ring. I used a RRC flywheel that I re-drilled and a spigot adaptor that came with the kit. I ended up using a diesel series 3 clutch...
  17. My seatbelts are mounted on my rollcage hoop
  18. Serpentines were fitted from the RRC Softdash and the Discovery 300 series V8's. I'm not sure which parts are inter-changeable between the front covers. Obviously the Thor has no hole for the dizzy though.
  19. I like the wheels it's sporting!
  20. Cheers guys, I ended up swapping the alternator out. Still have the old one on the bench though.
  21. Put up a build thread in Members Vehicles? I'd be interested to see it
  22. You'll need to upload them to a picture host first, photobucket is the host I've used in the past. Then take the URL from the uploaded photo and use the "insert image" button in the post editor.
  23. It was a lovely sunny day yesterday so figured I'd take the old girl out for a thrash. All was well, until the alternator belt started to slip. I figured this was just general "oops the bolts come undone" syndrome and made a mental note to tighten it when I got to my mates. Upon arrival at my friends house it became apparent there was more of an issue. Turning the ignition key off causes the charge light to come on. Turn the key on and the charge light goes out. I put a multi-meter on the output from the alternator and this seems to still be charging although getting it above tickover and reading the display is a little difficult. My opinion is a fubared alternator, opinions anyone?
  24. I'm running on Parabolics on my 88, seems to be fairly good but very bouncy (procomp dampers) but I have lost a fair bit of weight on my truck. I hate to think how harsh it would be on the old multi-leaf springs!
