  1. Hmm, I've offered him £600 and told him I'll remove the engine for him and sell it on his behalf with any proceeds going to his own pocket. I don't know what the engine is off the top of my head but I do know it's not very high-revving. He built it to tow a trailer and be a tug, I believe it maxes out around 3000rpm. I did advise he finish the conversion and sell it as a running Land Rover.
  2. A friend of the family is trying to off-load his 1984 van-body 110. It used to be a V8, it's now a 6cylinder turbo Nissan engine, apparently from a truck. It looked solid-ish from the 5 mins I had looking around it. It's been off the road for 3 years, engine conversion is still not finished, so no TAX/MOT. Chassis is apparently in good condition, paintwork looks shabby. It would need a new bonnet as he's modified it to get airflow to the inter-cooler (top mounted). I don't want the engine and would be removing this and selling it as a separate item. so what is it likely to be worth?
  3. Good question, sometimes Google will throw up links to ebay auctions/BIN etc. It depends how rare and unusual the treasure is! If not then I'm sure someone can value it in this part of the forum to save muddying up a sale thread with price suggestions.
  4. Why not post a photo in here and people can try to identify the items, once you know what they are you might be able to Google them to find out a rough price guide?
  5. There are quite a few threads in members vehicles and around the series forum that tackle fitting a V8 to a series 3, someone uploaded a few articles scanned from a mag when I did mine. If they don't turn up in a search I still have them so can upload I used them to sus-out cutting the bulkhead etc.
  6. That's a familiar site! Make sure you disconnect all the ECU's before you start welding, good luck
  7. Oh, cool, they've started selling these mounts too Had to fab my own when I did the job earlier in the year.
  8. My understanding is that the Range Rover should sit level when unladen without the assistance of the self levelling unit. Discoveries/90's/110's do not have the unit fitted and still manage to sit roughly level. What age/condition are the rear springs in?
  9. Ordered all the parts for the CSK from YRM, very high quality and prompt delivery. A pleasure to deal with, would recommend them to anyone! (and have to several) So yeah, another vote of awesome from me
  10. I've seen the result of bulbs that draw high power, a series 3 with most of the lighting loom melted behind the dash :/ I can second the relay upgrade, having done it to my Series 3.
  11. Not what I was advocating, if you mean my post, hence why I said greater efficiency
  12. PIAA sell some very nice Halogen H4 bulbs (at a price). Halfrauds also sell some pretty decent bulbs with a higher than normal efficiency (giving greater light output).
  13. The white 90 reminds me of the girlfriends iPhone.
  14. I can take a photo of my 3.9 Serp Disco tomorrow if that'll help?
  15. I wonder if Serenity is a nod to the Firefly TV series, I doubt it but you never know.
  16. Mikey, probably not much use to you but I have a set of 88" rims with tyres on, yours if you want them.
  17. Dude, that sucks. At least you're ok (I assume you are given that you're posting on here). It's a horrific feeling when write a car off, I remember how I felt when I rolled my Range Rover a few years ago. As has been said, a perfect excuse for a rebuild.
  18. I'm fairly sure it does, I got a my LT77 cover mixed up with my ZF cover when building the CSK. I Think I fitted the ZF cover :/
  19. Very unusual for the front footwell carpets to be one piece with the transmission tunnel carpet. There is a fair amount of dismantling to be done if you're planning on stripping out the centre console carpet!
  20. Only the 2 door was still produced by Land Rover will into the 1990's (besides the CSK). Sold in France/Belgium/Germany (for a start)
  21. The CSK doesn't have hidden door hinges, it does have hidden bonnet hinges though. There were no 2 doors produced by Land Rover with hidden door hinges (that I am aware of). There is a 2 door softdash floating about and a 2 door on a disco 2 chassis. major changes in body shell that I can think of (in no certain order); Welded on front wings Different grill/bonnet slam area Step changed to slope below rear seats Rear floor changed from ally to pressed steel Raised rear filler cap Different mountings for rear seat catches (probably same time as sloped floor) Bulkhead changes in conjunction with dash changes TX tunnel changes in conjunction with Gbox changes Rear wiper mounting changes Floors changed from bolted to welded Probably a lot more I've missed but hope that's a good start.
  22. I used Famous Four for some bits on the current project. The main bearings they sent me were for the wrong year of V8 and despite ordering a V8 clutch kit, engine gasket set, clutch slave cylinder and V8 water pump they sent me a TD5 spigot bush. Having said that, they've always been fine when I've used them for other orders, and as said above, they do send non britpart stuff Paddocks are handy for me as I can drive there and back in 45 mins and see the bits I'm buying.
  23. Spent a lot of time going in to Paddocks over the years, Bob behind the counter is a bit of a legend and could rival some on here for his almost encyclopaedic knowledge of part numbers. I try to avoid the place during a Saturday though, the Q's are massive. Very handy place to have on the doorstep and definitely a place I'd recommend to others
