  1. I've just had a brief chat with a couple of clever chaps out in Aus, who know Land Rovers. Turns out this must be a localised problem as generally there are no heating issues with 110/90/130's even with V8's; unless there is an issue with the vehicle. I've left a message for a mate in Helensvale to see if he's had any issue with his previous 110's - he drives an Isuzu Dmax now
  2. I was just pondering coolant type. OAT gives higher temps Too strong a Glycol gives higher temps
  3. Arrow Radiators. Countrywide collection of dirty sheds and blokes that know there stuff. In Australia I recon there are loads - it being warmer than here
  4. Listening to experiences is the best way to work out what you need. If you are having cooling problems in an area with average temps of 29 degrees C in it's hottest month, then you have a problem. And it would be best to sort it out
  5. Justification for always setting the engine to 'Factory' prior to experimentation. Oil types and quality can effect the EGT's - it's that sort of engine!
  6. I have used a 200tdi/300tdi in some hot places. I found that an extra row added to the core of the radiator worked well, or for 50+, simply find a 2.5 TD rad out of an RRC and add an extra row. This rad is about as thick as they come and yet still fits in the 'standard' frame. The 50+ was whilst working for the BGS in the Danekil, where we had highs of 55 Whilst working in Aus, up in the Northern Territories, with highs of 42 and average of 35, our 300 tdi 130 (towing a 2 tonne chipper) never had issues with the standard rad All temps in Centigrade
  7. I thought he actually created that style
  8. Isn't that what you wear?
  9. There are times I'm embarressed to drive a D1. Then I remember mines properly maintained, serviced and legal. Every mod is an improvement, most ly based on safety and driveablity. It's my DD and does 15+K a year, with a fair few of those miles carrying my kids. So it must be right MOT on thursday
  10. Am I correct in that the MoT actually runs out at Midnight of the expiry date?
  11. I see what you are saying, but legally I can't fit Led designed headlight lamps; and practically I can't (or wouldn't) as it looks carp
  12. Seee your point, but both Bowie and I live on the huge flat areas of Sedgemoor and The Avalon Vale. They are frost pockets. Our frost will be 3-4 degrees harsher than the rest of wessex. Back in 2010 we had minus 16 on three of four occasions. Although it douse warm up slightly quicker
  13. I've done many thousands of night driving miles with my set up. Standard Maestro Lamps, relay feed and ozram nightbreakers. I added spots in the grill with bog standard 65 watt Halogens (OE fitment) to supplement the 'close up beam' .. The 'white light' is excellent for all night driving types. Except snow. Snow is a PITA but not something we get often. I'm impressed by the reliability of the Ozram stuff and it's price. A lot of my night driving is done between 00.00 and 06.00 in bad weather/storms in the winter. I'm usually on the lookout for fallen trees or random vehicles parked in hedges; as such I used to need a NS spotlight on the roof. I don't bother now. The spread of light afforded by the Ozrams is fine. Apart form the illegality of upgrading my vehicle to LED headlights, the biggest issue with LED headlamps is the abrubt cut off. Makes for a useless and potentially dangerous problem, especially when pushing on through corners, in the wet
  14. Nothing attached, but yes it's the tree position, two resistor sliding switch
  15. Thank you for your time and effort. Sadly those are 300tdi
  16. Discovery 200Tdi Heater fan control switch, please Ralph
  17. I've still to calibrate my 200/300 injectors, although they are al pop tested fine. I paid about £50 per genuine Bosche 300 nozzle and some extra to get them fitted and pop tested from the supplier As and when I get time I will take them to a local injector specialist to get calibrated. I have 3 sets of spare 200 injectors. I am happy to share those sets as long as I get like for like back - ie unrefurbed I'm also interested in 200 nozzles
  18. Does anyone have a decent diagram of how there are put together? Please
  19. Shame there was only one spot light on the G
  20. I deal with the clean up from hundreds of vehicle fires, working closely with Trumpton. Biggest cause of vehicle fires is a minor electrical fire melting into the brake or clutch fluid reservoir/pipe. This is almost imposible to put out until you completely deny it oxygen....
