  1. Welcome to the forum. I would urge you to trailer the vehicle as a-frame is only legal to use for recovery to safe place (such as from motorway hard shoulder to first junction.
  2. While I can relate to your thoughts on spending, you clearly need a custom built item, for just this one type of use but you don't like the idea of bespoke prices... ...Hate to say it but I think you're on a hiding to nothing matey. Stuff like that is supply and demand: If you want it, you'll pay for it! Don't you know a local fabricator that could do something suitable?
  3. Right well I went to your profile and figured you must be on about the 93 RR you recently acquired. Replacement callipers as usually the pads have also worn the caliper body causing a clicking noise when breaking. Don't think it makes much difference but it can make it easier to get stones and muck right up to the hub seal. I left front's in place but removed rears cos they were ready to fall off anyway. I haven't had any detrimental effects from their removal, that I can tell. Usually the valve leaks and they ain't cheap to replace either, for what they are.
  4. I'm actually surprised at that as the VM seems to have a really deep first gear when compared to the Tdi, although I haven't looked up the ratios.
  5. Well, when I put a second battery in the back to run the aux lighting etc, I started by modifying a Series pivlock carrier. Was a bit of a pain TBH as it got in the way all the time while marshalling. So I went mad and got a Disco carrier and mounted it on the roof with suitable bracing inside. Works for me, but not everyone's cup of tea I'm sure.
  6. In case you don't realise (as your typing sounds like mine ), pressing either of the Shift keys which may have an upward arrow on them, will provide you with single capitals.
  7. Hello Don, really good to see you looking in mate.
  8. There isn't a relay but there is a control unit on the steering column bracket.
  9. Certainly seems that way! In a similar circumstance I probably would have reached for the hi-mod silicon Which is probably why the windscreen on my Disco is in a state of perpetual smear!!! But no I certainly haven't done the job.
  10. Can't imagine it would be a testing issue, but bear in mind that when the swivels leak, the oil runs down the guard. No guard, oil on disc perhaps?
  11. Brunel Performance do them. £170 +vat. They are Disco ones but are fairly universal I think. He also gets them in Carbon fiibre! If you do get in touch, tell Jon that Deano says hello.
  12. I think there is a small difference between senders on V8 and Tdi. I say this because it seems most Tdi's in their natural surroundings only tend to get to ¼ on the gauge whereas the transplanted ones from Disco to RR seem to reach ½ way. No scientific proof, just gleaned from chat among club members etc.
  13. Well spotted JCB: 5 spokes on the back and 6 spoke on front and spare!
  14. Ooh pedantic llama's! It did sit a fraction higher at the back but it was more than acceptable. This is it on the left, next to Shed which has a +2" Pro-Comp lift kit. And when first done 31/10.5x15 tyres As David rightly proves, the 60mm was not done to give a specific lift height but it was the heaviest wall thickness box section I had in the scrap bin! BTW nice to speak with you for so long at Peteerboro David. Fancy selling the display stuff!
  15. Disco HD rears will raise the back of a RR by 2-3" depending on their condition. I did a useful and very cheap 2" lift on one of my old RR's by fitting Red/White stripes all round with 60mm spacers under the rear spring seats. Worked really well.
  16. If I could get hold of a mega-cheap freebie, I'd love to put it onto a RR cvhassis like the 'Freeranger' of a few years back.
  17. Ah good, thsnks for clearing that up. I was sure I'd heard it somewhere, possibly uttered by someone misinformed like me!
  18. Now don't quote me on this, but ISTR that the heater possibly has o-rings like the P38 does and they may leak?
  19. 5-50! I bet that old V8 thinks it's running water through the sump
  20. Yeah that would be good thanks.
  21. Ah nice one, glad he's ok. That 2.7 is a really nice lump for a stonecrusher I thought. Not driven one myself but had a ride around the block in one and was quietly impressed. Can't stand the look of it though, it's even worse than the old shape! Yes get that CSK covered up mate, they are starting to get rare. I even heard of one being pick-up'ed and bobbed bluddy heathens! It's bad enough doing it to a normal two dr but that takes the biscuit. There's a guy from London who visits the garage next to my work with his CSK, and I've let the garage know that 'll be interested if he ever wants to part with it. After all, nothing looks prettier than a 2 dr, especially in black. I've still got the piccy of the CSK's inline that Niall sent me years ago
  22. Yes you have ya dirty stop-out! But business comes first when it's your own mate. Do you hear anything from Niall? He registered when this place first started and then dropped off the radar.
  23. Hello Simon, nice to see you around again. This your annual vist then?
  24. Having had the experience of both coverings I have to say I vote for cloth everytime. The leather looks really classy befitting a motor such as the classic, but in the sun you can fry an egg on them and in the winter it's like sitting on an iceberg! However the leather does cope with wet better as you can get rid of most splahes from those hopeless gutters with one swipe of an arm.
