  1. My understanding is it used to be altering the wheel base was a fail. But brackets, out riggers even front and back mods weren't a problem. However with IVA this was changed to any modifications to the chassis became a fail. You can add by bolting or welding to the chassis from what I can make out and repairs are fine but if you "cut" the chassis to mod it then that's a fail. Mike
  2. There used to be some water bags out there but don't know what they're like. Mike
  3. I assume you mean the square ones. They work very well I use one for a while. The only downside is after a while they split on the folds. If I remember correctly mine lasted over a year of regular use. Mike
  4. My chassis isn't land rover though it's foers. Mike
  5. Nope still screwed as no kit car has a certificate of conformity that' why they need an IVA. Mike
  6. The first part is dealing with that as well. I don't have a major problem with where they're going with this tighter emissions isn't a bad thing but the average kit car build is 5 years so 3 months is out of order. Mike
  7. Unless your building an ibex which has a 200tdi in it and is nearly ready for an IVA I really don't fancy and can't afford to rip it all apart again to put a new engine in. Mike
  8. When I put the 110 back on the road I just applied for the v5. Granted it wasn't modified but it had been written out previously. Mike
  9. I've copied the one linked and emailed it but I could be done from the club to. Mike
  10. I was just going to post this I've also emailed the consultation. Mike
  11. Cough back on topic.... A roof tent is great but only if you either move every day or don't mind walking everywhere. As whilst you can put it down each time you want go anywhere A. Its a pain and B. If it's wet you or your gear gets at best damp. Ground tents are great as well but again if you move everyday you have the damp issue and you need a tent that packs up quickly. Mike
  12. Leave them wipe clean. I have children and I like offroading nuff said. There is the neoprene/bubble wrap insulation and a strip off flashband on the inside of the door skin. Mike
  13. There might be a white and fluffy version of that trip in the offing 2020 ish. Mike
  14. There's four types of steering box manual, 3 bolt (inperial), 6 (heavy duty) and 4 (normal and fitted to the majority) both the last two are metric. From memory 6 and 4 are interchangeable. All 4 bolt are the same except the drop arm is different on discovery/ rangie classic to defender. So you will either need to change it (can be very hard to get off) or change both steering bars and the damper. Mike
  15. I quite like that it would be interesting to see it built. Mike
  16. Battery fitted and strapped down. Covers over the battery, winch and where the second battery will be (at a later date) trimmed and fixings sorted. Rear seatbelt covers trimmed and fixed. I then discovered the seat belts I have for the front are nowhere near long enough . So I moved on to the rear door cards. I did the seal between handle and door cards. Finally trimmed and glued in place the rear door catch covers. Mike
  17. Your very unlikely to get tugged with an old body on a newer registration as your not dodging anything by doing this. The other way round however......will be a painful life short but painful. As western says you should just have to notify them but they probably won't be interested anyway. I love the fact they say you must be able to prove but they don't have the Vic to check any more. All the info is on the gov website it takes a bit of reading and cross referencing, and then reading from a seemingly unrelated angle but it's not as bad as it first seems to work out. Mike
  18. Last week i replaced the radiator with an aluminium item. After a conversation with tsd about how 45 needed a new rad he suggested ali ones are not much more than a plastic ends job. So the ibex rad out and into 45, shiney new Ali one into the ibex. Today I final got round to filling it and discovered it leaks less if you actually tighten the vent cap up . Rad full a few turns and she was up and running for the first time this year. This allowed me to run the heater up so I could label it correctly. In between replacing our bathrooms and redecorating half the house I've made up some fibreglass covers for the rear seatbelts and winch access under the rear seat (I'm hoping to fit these tomorrow). I'll try to remember to take some pictures tomorrow too. Mike
  19. Quecha seconds tents not air beam type. Roof tent and trailer. Now we have a caravan. Mike
  20. What sort of size/layout is the original. How much space do you have oh and we need pictures! Mike
  21. Sika 295 is uv stable 291 is general purpose marine sealant. But these a expensive to be honest any of there polyurethane sealant will do. Mike
  22. Sikaflex as with tiger seal it's a polyurethane so sets like rubber and will glue two panels together. Also there is Saba an ms polymer but again sets like rubber etc. Mike
  23. But how much does it cost to recharge if you pay for it. Both quick and over night/day charge have to be paid for even if it isn't you some how much is it and is it that much cheaper than a euro box? Mike
