  1. There is also the option of fibreglass doors. http://www.amaservices.biz/ama-grp-designs/4564590506 Mike
  2. Finished off the rear door check straps and internal door handle mounts. This led me on to the door cards a final trim and add holes for the handle mounts. Then I riveted them in place as there is no need to get behind them. Plus adding a small countersink to the holes mean the rivets sit almost flush. I did the front doors as well. Just need to fit the catch covers and cover the small gap between the handles and panel. I'll probably use a neat sikaflex bead for this. Mike
  3. I'm pretty sure you only need the tear off part of the v5 to sorn in the same way you only need that bit to tax it. Mike
  4. You can do it online just a quick Google will find it but if I remember correctly you need the v5. Mike
  5. That's where I got to with mine after several people told me they weren't legal. I still don't see why. Mike
  6. Today I have reduced 3 sheets of 6mm ply into a pile of random shapes. Then did the same with 7m of cloth. Cut to shape. Evenly roller PVA glue onto the face. Lay cloth in the right position and smooth out by hand. Leave to dry then they will all go to work (due to my dead compressor) so I can staple all round. Mike
  7. They look the same as mine. Personally I can't see why they would be non road legal but happy to be corrected (though I might have to find new wheels for the ibex in that case). Mike
  8. Mines filled with ep90 though it gets over filled from the transfer box not that it's ever been a problem. Which winch have you got mines a fairey 525 it's an outstanding winch if a little slow for some people. But it will pull all day long. Mike
  9. What type of beadlocker are they. If they are the bolt on rim style why do you say they are not road legal because the tyre is sat on a rim just held in place instead of relying on a bead. As far as I can see there is no real difference between this type and split rims. If however they are the flat ring type then I wouldn't run them on the road and I can see why they would be illegal. Either way if you do as you say you will not be able to fit or remove the tyre. Mike
  10. I made some moulds and layed them up out of fibreglass. I wanted something that was wipe clean and waterproof. Mike
  11. I thought boosts were the only ones that fit early and later 110/90's with caps. Mike
  12. Things are still progressing well even with the rain I've managed to fit the heater controls. Because my dash doesn't have the screen or floor flap I've decided to use the heat/screen:floor controls for heat/shut off and the fan switch from the disco. Just got to replace the cables and connect them. Also whilst it was raining I made up some battery covers and a lip for the gearbox gaiter out of fibreglass. Tonight was replacing the speedo cable as I had a defender one but I'm now using the disco binnical. Stalled on the battery covers because my compressor threw a rod last week so need to trim them at work tomorrow along with the door cards I made about 18 months ago. This left me with check straps and handle brackets on the front doors (the rears are more complex). Mike
  13. Our next event is Mannington near Verwood on the 27th August followed by seven sisters weekend in Wales on 23rd-24th Sept. We accept most offroad vehicles (not bikes or quads) subject to a few rules see the club website for details at www.shirelrc.com Mike
  14. Welcome back I haven't finished the ibex yet either but I'm a lot closer than Ross. Mike
  15. I happily leave my phone to charge on a single battery over night with no issues in the morning. I've also charge my phone several times in this manner when camping. But as said the best is to run a split charge and second battery of some sort. I fitted a second battery with a voltage sensitive relay (from a heated rear window set up) between the two battery's so it drops out when the engines off but opens when the alternator starts charging. This is what I did for the fridge in the 110 while the wife's away on holiday with the kids. Mike
  16. I had enough trouble getting him to press record. To be fair it had already started briefly completely by accident when I finally found the earth fault on the starter relay, then I put some fuel in it. Mike
  17. Flash band on doors and rear panels to stop drumming. Interior insulation in today as well. Mike
  18. Yes after a rocky start. There was an earth fault on the starter relay which took some finding but got there in the end. Mike
  19. 20170805_152134.mp4 It runs . And I've driven it down the road briefly . Mike
  20. Cost mainly, not so much now but disc Salisbury's used to go for £700+ whereas drum ones you could pick up for £200. Certainly that's the reason I converted the one on the ibex. Mike
  21. One of my dashes but modified to fit round the wiper system. Not mounted yet that's tomorrow's job. Today I've been wiring the back lights, tank sender and towing socket. Plus sorting the tank breather and fitting the rear floor. Finally a picture sporting the mirrors. Mike
  22. From this. To this. Not sure if it looks much better but it's all where it's supposed to be now. Working: Head and side lights. Cooling fan. Heater. Wipers and washer. Not working: Horn. Indicators. Rear light (not wired yet). Gauges. I've fitted the mirrors but decided to leave them manual for now. The dash needed some repairs and alterations. I'm using the disco binnical so had to cut this section of the dash to make it removable. I also did the centre console while I was at it. It's been in and out a few times to get it to fit but I'm happy now so have started painting it. Mike
  23. I believe later disc axles had the caliper mount cast as part of the axle. Earlier disc axles had the caliper mount as a bolt on so at worst you'll need a pair of caliper mounts. Neil110 the caliper mounts are cast steel by the weight of them. Mike
  24. Yes. But getting to all the nuts is easier with a wheel off the ground. Mike
  25. All I can say is why? When you could put a tdi in that will A. Fit without an adaptor B. Be more powerful and better torque and C. You know will work across the board. Yes it's more money than the Ford but a lot less agro. Mike
