  1. I doubt it as it's on a Q plate, though some of the first Q plates must be reaching tax exempt age. Whether they get tax exempt status is another matter. Mike
  2. But I want this more. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/266031155526?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=8FcuUBpBThO&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=rj9sNdGlTqa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Mike
  3. I'd rather have one of these, http://roughterrainvehicle.co.uk/ And I know someone who has one.... Mike
  4. Technically you need a heater or heated windscreen to demist under construction and use, it's an IVA fail if non present. @Bowie69if your frame is a bowler/tomcat you might be in luck as tomcat Motorsport do a heated windscreen. I had one in mine and it was one of the best purchases, I wish I could get one for the ibex. @elbekkoits a bit later for a support group as most of us are already here, I was laying under mine in -5 on Saturday so I guess that make me a signed up member. Mike
  5. Another point to note is most galvanizers have a minimum quantity. It'll be considerably more than the step, so unless you have other stuff to do or know someone you can make a batch with it won't be worth it. Mike
  6. Thanks but It's not the rollers that are knackered it's the plastic that holds them and tensions them. Mike
  7. It's taken best part of 18 months to move from an extension lead draped down the garden. So baby steps, baby steps. Mike
  8. Mine is about wiper motor sized, unfortunately it's the plastic around the rollers that's Brocken up. Mike
  9. I seem to go to great lengths to put them in mine. Mike
  10. Just to update this thread. The workshop has seen a fair bit of work lately. Been busy making a mini Marcos front end for a friend. I've also been sorting out a fish pond for the wife which has meant I needed to sort the workshop electrics. I've run an amoured cable from the house consumer unit down to the workshop and into a consumer unit in there. I've put in a 30 amp ring main and 6 amp lighting circuit. In addition to this there's a separate 16 amp supply that runs an outside socket in the vasinity of said fish pond. I've also got a separate 6 amp for an outside light (not fitted yet). The lights are still very heath Robinson because they are an assortment of lights I already had but the supply and switch are sorted. Mike
  11. I believe foers bought direct from land rover at one point so maybe they have an existing deal. Assuming gkn made the d2 axle you could buy direct from them granted you'd need to buy 1k at a time. I suppose it depends on who designed them gkn or land rover. Mike
  12. The shire one is over 10 years old it's been on TJ's 130, my 110 and the club trailer. It's been blown up and over my 110 when the wind caught it. The height and width poles collapse then rotate and slide into the length pile, then you just roll it up into the bag. Mike
  13. I would love to drive a Munro and an ibex side by side. Neither have all the toys and it's the same base vehicle. It would make for the best ev, ice comparison. Especially as the payload and towing weights are the same. It would be interesting to see how badly the range is hit with 3500kg on the back. Ironically they're releasing the Munro in the this week in Edinburgh. Mike
  14. Can't remember for certain but the parking brake light is also the low fluid light for the brake system, they use it for the hand brake as a way of testing the bulb. Mike
  15. And there's another in the bottom of the timing chest, just behind the crank pulley. Mike
  16. Unfortunately the solution to battery range needs to be a move back to living where you work. Whilst unstainable at the moment due to house prices it will have to change and this needs to start at the top to enable it to filter down. So if the government and well off really want to tackle climate change it needs to start with them, which we all know it won't so we are doomed to not get anywhere. Mike
  17. Not legally. They might get away with an age related plate but even that's marginal and I'm not sure if they're tax exempt. Mike
  18. Ironically I had a look at my mig at the weekend. I have the same issue but mine is an elandmig 175. It's half out in this pic the motor is bolted in from behind and about the size of a wiper motor. Mike
  19. If the thread pitch on the rod end is around 1mm or less I doubt you'll need it much finer than that. Let's face it, it's not a race car the handling will be some what loose. As long as it's toe out, 1 or 2mm will only show as slightly more inside tyre wear. Mike
  20. It's probably the same, there's a few series parts on early 110's. Mike
  21. The release catch for your bonnet should look like this. Note the hook that grabs the bonnet half of the catch in the event of accidental release. There is no cable on this system it's manual through the grill with a key lock just out of shot. Mike
  22. The Futher north you go the more upright the panel needs to be. UK is around 45° ideally and tracking the sun makes a huge difference. We have 100w on the trailer, left flat we get 2-3amps, lifted to 45° nearer to 6amps however if you don't follow the sun it drops back to 2-3amps fairly quickly. We ran our panel fixed at 45° set at midday direction on holiday in the Hebrides, with a 110amp battery and a waeco cf35 fridge. This coped for 2 weeks with no extra charge. It did drop quite low on wet days but ultimately stayed above 70%. Mike
  23. Your bonnet is the same as the early 110 (sliding windows), the safety latch and bonnet release are all in one mechanism. You release the bonnet through the grill, no cable. The safety latch hooks the spring plate. From memory the slam panel is very similar for both early and later. Mike
  24. A come problem I've found with various battery tools (and mains for that matter) is the brushes get stuck. Whip them out and give it a clean often sorts it. Mike
