  1. We (dealer )would fit new plug as comes with thread sealer already on it and I would recommend fitting new exhaust studs and nuts as u have it off anyway. Also check its not bent also If so get it skimmed some take the webbing off as well.
  2. Hi sound like a spit hose from or to intercooler Check every hose for splits u can normally see the mess where it's sprayed oil out as well Just squeeze them and feel for split
  3. Hi I've had several 1.8's one did this turned out the switch on the back of the ignition was failing The other the coil had started melt if u unbolt it and look under u can see it
  4. I suspect it's the rail sensor and connector pins Lr do a mod sensor and overlay loom very easy to fit but a bit pricy
  5. Double check there is no oil leak from cam seals or gasket running down into box Never heard of exhaust full of water before
  6. If u have the tail door open and roll the latch over fully and close the window fully Then try starting ect and see what happens
  7. Remove the rear r/h boot trim and on top of the strut are 2 slim relays one for window and other door lock if it then works its relay If not other common fault is wiring braking in door shut or gamble switch U could also try looking up the bcu test routing that will open the door 4 u
  8. Can be done easier if door open and lock rolled across Also will not cal if not going full movent had many that the spare wheel been hit slightly and stopping window dropping fulley Remove trim and check window at bottom
  9. The grinding noise and rattle sounds like the pads had it several times on non Lr pads fitted genuine and a fine

    It is behind the roof lining in centre of car if u have a sun roof it's in the middle back of it but not all freelanders had one as was option post 2001

  12. Hi that miles would have been done before Might not be the multi layer type though. Check coolant tank for any black or oil in water Also check vcu as will need replacing cheaper than ird and diff
  13. Hi Landrover bearings are gk ones I 2 have tried cheaper island 4x4 ones and lasted 300mls genuine still going 4 yrs+ Worth the extra and genuine warranty also

  15. Main dealers are now cutting down on what they do I know most in Kent will no longer reset service light s unless they do the service Also oil servicelight is a different counter and req land rover only tool
  16. Hi very common question It's totaly normal it's the throttle body motor. buzzing it closes on turning off to stop engine shudder / running on On start up it is held fully open then part closes to create a vacume to suck egr gasses in when req It's also used to stop dpf regen
  17. Hi don't go for latitudes we have lost of people complaining of how noisey they are I recommend str 's they are very good all round in wet and snow
  18. Hi if u turn the ignition on engine off In reverse and chock the wheels and handbrake off then put your ear to all the sensors u can hear them click if they are working.

Hi the wife's hippo 54 reg 1.8 Has had a miss fire ever since we had it 3 yrs It's had hgf new shim type fitted and new head Plugs all leads and coils all Lr ones But still there it's there all time hot or cold is worst when cold can feel the shake and its there as u drive up through the revs (.slight) records dtc miss fire no 2 any one got any ideas Thanks

  23. Sounds like it only started after u fitted the tyres ??? If so u need to get them checked as could be miss shaped or balancing out also u need to put the tyres with the most tread to the back or u will get this also.
  24. Where about in the uk are u I would do a leak off check on the injectors Disconnect the small pipe ontop of the injectors and clamp it off. Turn key on ignition only Look at top of injectors if a bad one u will see fuel leaking from the top ( causing a pressure drop and engine will not start ) note fuel pump only runs for a couple of seconds turn off then back on

Hi there is a tsb from l/rover If u contact ur parts there is a kit for pre or post 1a 1.8 if u have a pre 1a it includes a jumper loom connects below the engine ecu where there is a row of connectors (n/s). Also a new header tank and float sensor unit. On post 1a u get a small loom from sensor to ecu where u add 2 wires to the main connector on the ecu. Both put the engine warning light on when the level drops to low ( does not store a fault just top up and light goes out) Note for post 1a will need software update to work correctly normally dealer charge 1/2 hr Hope this helps when I am back at work will add the bulletin number ( on course at mo at gaydon)
