  1. This truck! It was stuck in the snow. I freed it and then towed it to the main road....... Quite good for a 40 year old series with a 2,25 petrol Cheers bowy
  2. I'm using 2 lifting eyes, front and rear. Mounted them through a 8 mm plate of steel. Bolted them up tjust tight so they are able to rotate. Tested them thorougly last weekend. And was able to lift the front wheels of Serious by pulling from the one rear eye from a lower point (pulling from a stuck landie with hydraulic winches stuck in a puddle 2 meters lower and only 1 meter behind me. So about 5000kg pull). No distortion in the eye and only 1 mm in the crossmember. So they should be strong enough. Cheers Bowy
  3. The early type of TIC discbrake set has Mercedes 100D brake pads. They wear out within 10.000 km and 5000 when offroading. So better buy two or three sets. Cheers Bowy who used to have them but now uses different disc+pads.
  4. Got 33's under it, Didn't have to do any cutting to the guards with about 4 to 5 inch spring lift. Would go for 2 to 3 inch springs and 2 inch body next time Want to fit rims with an extra inch offset in the near future so have to fit of devon arches I've got lying around only problem is I don't have the time yet to tear up the perfectly good rear doors and tidy them up afterwards. Any tips? hints? Cheers bowy pics of the 33's are on my site: Serious Yellow Landrovers
  5. Hi Chris, Thanx for sharing! Already thought I recognized a few cars from this forum. Even spotted Simon (or he me ) Had a good time. And tested my Toyo axles thoroughly, and they stayed in one piece. Even made the hill on the trial course (where the disco is pictured with winch cable fitted to the excavator) without lockers. completely bouncing up and down for grip (normally this would have costed me at least one axle part but probably more) So had a great time! Also made a few pics: more pics on my site: Serious IIa Also had an blowout on the trailer just after we left. Tried to fit the spare, just to find out it had a different pattern So then changed a 12 inch high pressure tire along side the road from the wrong rim to the blowout rim B) See you there next time? Simon did that picture of me, come out okay? Cheers Bowy
  6. 4.7 series diff's are soft like applepie, I've got lots off them lying around to prove it. You'll strip the ring gear in no time...... Cheers bowy
  7. Almost. The SWB version had a diff ratio of 4.9 the long I've got no idea. One thing is for sure the "rockcraling abilities of me series have improved fastly!! Cheers Bowy
  8. Buy a set of Toyo axles. Strong enough to run 36 inch simex locked. And available for under 600 quid. Only some adapting to do. But that isn't that difficult! Cheers Bowy
  9. I took the driveflange of the toyo diff. Then machined it down to accept the landrover pattern (with the center ring) en drilled new holess (left the old ones) . Easy to do and half an hour work per flange. I my opnion also the best option. Also possible to make a Toyo/LR prop. But I think props wear faster the flanges, so more often to be replaced. And a LR prop is everywhere readily available (even use standard length probs) Cheers Bowy
  10. It is the perspective then. They are just as big as series landrover axles. Even 1 or 2 cm less wide. (so big rims needed!) They are a few kilos's heavier because the stronger internals but not much, but especially the rear axle is much lighter then my previous Salisbury. Cheers Bowy
  11. No lockers (yet) The draglink goes behind the axle. Tried in front because I thought it would touch the springs. But on a toyo it sits in the back. After a bit of fiddling with the diff angel it clears the leaves perfectly (also less chance of bending) and it's way stronger designed then the standard landrover version. Also used the toyo master brake cilinder. With a small adapter it fits perfectly on the standard brake pedal box. Will make some pictures today. Even the bonnet still shuts (only 3 mm space above the vacuumbooster) Only the spat has to be modified extensively. This is planned for today/tomorrow. Cheers Bowy
  12. Have been busy fitting Toyo LJ70 axles under SeriousIIa. Now suddenly speeding up with the work because the Belgium National is very near......... and I'm going. For more pics of the buildup you can take a look at my site: Serious IIa Keep you updated how it works out when finished! Cheers Bowy
  13. Absolutely amazing end result!! I'm drooling behind my pc!!! Looking very tidy!!! Cheers Bowy
  14. I've also done the dumb iron extending. So some more pics of the same stuff on my site. Dumb irons A friend of mine builded them totally from scratch, with a quite nice end result. Extreme dumb irons Cheers Bowy
  15. I towed my Catamaran on a trailer (Nacra 5.7) about 2,40 width en 7 meter long. With my 2CV all the way to france. Not very heavy, but quite a strange sight such a long and wide trailer behind such a small car :D
  16. Looks like the thing I want, the greenlane thing. Do you have any pics of it fitted to a RRC andy, because the RRC has a different roof shap then a disco I think. Any more suppliers? Because I spoke to them today and they told me shipping to here is 40 quid!!!! Which is a bit steep I think. (ordered a complete set of springs and 8 shocks last week from the UK and only paid 10 quid shipping........) Maybe I then have to fab one myself. Because for 130 quid that shouldn't be a problem (the price on the site is incorrect, they are now 90,- ) Cheers Bowy
  17. Hi, I'm looking for a lightbar for my RRC. Friend of mine bought one on Billing last year, myself didn't have any more money to spend then. So thought I buy one this year. Sadly I wasn't able to attend this year. So asked a friend of mine who was going to go and find one and bring it with him. But he said they weren't there this year. So does anybody know who does this kind lightbars. And is willing to ship them. Looking for the RRC version , this one has a different bend then the Disco one. But you get the idea. Thanx for the help! Cheers Bowy
  18. Not for the fainthearted...... But once found a few pics of an accident with a winch cable..... (Not suitable for young people!!) winch horror 1 winch horror 2 winch horror 3 winch horror 4 Bowy

  23. I can do that too Running 33x12,5 tires and it has problems when pulling a 3 ton trailer. Now altering the gearing to 1:4 t-case and mounting bigger cooler this weekend. Any ideas how much work involved changing the Transferbox with 4 pole lift? (how many hours??) Thanx! Cheers bowy
  24. CP 847 Everytime! I've had it for 4 years, and it's great!! But get a rubber condom like thing for it. Worth the extra investment! Cheers Bowy
