  1. It's looking good Will. Just in time for Jame's winch challenge at Slindon?? Steve
  2. I suspect Kev Baldwin's family garage would be happy to do this sort of work, as they've done body conversions before many times.. S.R Baldwin Windsor Gar Victoria Rd, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, HX7 8JX Don't know phone no., but you could get it by calling mud stuff no. 01422 847704 Cheers Steve
  3. mmmmmmmmmm, I'm not getting super service from Exmoor Trim at the moment. I bought a set of seat covers at Billing and once I got home I found out that they gave me 2007 ones which won't fit mine. Phoned them on Monday and response was all ok and after a few e-mails and scanning receipt new covers arrived from nene overland on Tuesday this week. Get home to find them there, open pack and again they've sent 2007 ones doh. Now it's been two days and people at Nene and Exmoor Trim haven't responded to e-mails, so I'm going to have to call them again tomorrow. I can forgive mistakes, but not poor customer service. Not good so far for both companies. Steve
  4. Big Si rates the ones he's supplying now, have you had a chat to him about them? Steve
  5. It's function over form James After some profiling it rubs along trees very nicely now
  6. I pretty sure I've heard that this happens when you get wear in the syncro slipper. If IIRC It tends to happen in the higher gears 3rd, 4th and 5th and unfortunately needs a gearbox re-build if it turns out to be this. Im no expert, far from it in fact, so just reciting what I've picked up. I'd suggest getting an expert to strip it down and have a look, rather than carrying on with it. Cheers Steve
  7. I can update you on mine I replaced my ep9 with a TDS 9.5 after buying one off David Bowyer at Billing. It was an easy straight swap from this... to this... TDS 9.5 is as expected - it has an easier to use freespool, beefier drum supports and also I noticed that it's taller. I didn't notice this until I fitted it and this extra height will allow more rope on the drum than an EP9. I've yet to try the the seals, but they have a good reputation in this area. So far everything works as it should and seeing as most of the brake/gearset is similar to EP9 I should have a good relaible winch, and with the seals slightly less servicing. Here's some more pics.. Cheers Steve
  8. Going by the test in LRW the KL71's came second to last in braking on tarmac, IIRC stopping about a metre further along at the relatively low speed of 30mph. So given this, I doubt they'd be an improvement over BFG here. As for them not performing off road - in comparison to what though? What pressures were you running them at? If you want good on road handling combined with good off road handling you'll find it hard to beat the BFG. Pick something better all round off road and it won't be great on road and vice versa in my opinion. Cheers Steve
  9. Not advocating 24v or 12v. But this would be easy, you would take the switch feed from the 24v supply to the Winch. The same as you would on a 12v winch set up. Cheers Steve
  10. I could pick mine up there too. Cheers Steve
  11. Yes a simple set up is to fit an extra 24v alternator and two 12v batteries in series. This keeps your 12v system intact. I had the hybrid before Tim and never touched the batteries between use and all was ok Cheers Steve
  12. Hi Mike Current Nikon cashback is from Nikon direct and in form of a cheque by post. I bought a Nikon D60 in June and a week after sending cashback and warranty form in, the 60 pound cheque arrived. Cheers Steve
  13. a Nikon D40 will do all that you need and can be bought for around 200-250 depending on cashback deal etc with 2Yr warranty and base zoom lens. Add a 55-200 zoom and you'll have a good no frills DSLR package that will do all that you need for web and brochures. None of the low cost dslr's are waterproof though' so if you want some weather protection look at samsung and pentax ones' but you're now talking about 1000 for a kit. Cheers Steve
  14. Are you serious?? It'd be a good way to waste five grand I suppose. You'll get marginal benefit from the Equipe performance kit over Gwyn's kit. Use different rear arms and adjustable a frame joint on Gwyn's kit and you'll get none. wee_arthur - The Rough Country shocks are a 'budget' shock. If you can afford it, go for a better designed and engineered shock like OME. Gywn's kit has the benefit of simple design and you can use the same shock all round so has a spares benefit. The X-springs will maximise your travel, and personally I find their major benefit is that you can use springs designed for on road handling without having to make any compromises off road. Cheers Steve
  15. If you want it level, it's easy to fit one of these on each front spring.. They are Range Rover rubber isolators vailable from any LR dealer or independent parts supplier. They'll give you an extra 1/2" lift without any drawbacks. Cheers Steve
  16. I'd say that they'll wear fairly quickly if you plan to do quite a few miles on road. When I had the simex clad hybrid, I soon started to use a set of BFG's for road and green lane use. I did quite a few trips to Wales and the West country on the Simex and in that time I'd say that they took more wear on road than off. The main problem with using them often on road is their dubious braking in the wet. On the hybrid they used to follow the tread pattern under braking and would weave and their stopping distance was obviously not great. I didn't find running two sets the solution though. It was fine for using BFG's to do most of the miles, but If I wanted to do an event in Wales etc on the Simex, I'd either have to put them in a trailer and tow that or trailer the hybrid. I didn't have a trailer with a Nato hitch so I just used to put the Simex on and put up with them for the long motorway journeys. Cheers Steve
  17. Just an fyi, neither my 2005 90 or the 05 110 I had were fitted with water sensors from the factory, so LR have obviously stopped using this sensor now. Cheers Steve
  18. a pound less than the ones in the photo
  19. Thanks for the info everyone. I've got a metal scrap merchants five minutes down the road, so I'll see what they offer. I'll see what I get for the front cat I took off the 90 too. They'll probably think I've nicked them! Thanks Steve
  20. Adobe's has just launched photoshop express online and it's free up to 2GB. Allows editing, galleries and slideshows.. https://www.photoshop.com/express/landing.html Cheers Steve
  21. Thanks for the replies, I'l let my friend know Not unless you are good at sewing too Mo James - I suspect the ones you had on the 110 in Namibia are the ones Exmoor are selling, as they are SA made and have pockets on side and rear of seat. Expensive, but cheaper than a new pair of seats Looks like I'll buy a set at Billing. Shame they don't do single covers as I couldn't care about the passenger seat Cheers Steve
  22. The Range Rover I bought recently came with some alloys that as soon as I pressure washed them for the first time started to loose their finish. The are the standard 18" hurricane alloys, but obviously the previous owner had simply had them sprayed silver instead of a proper refurb. I looked at refurbing them but at the cost of doing it, it's only about a tenner more per wheel to buy new so that's what I've done. This leaves me with 5 alloys that nobody will probably want to buy, so hence the question - does anyone know scrap value of 5x 18" alloys? Thanks Steve
  23. Do canvas seat covers stop the sweaty back effect of vinyl seats?? I'm just asking for a friend Cheers Steve
