  1. easy peasy pop the landrover logo off the handle. there is a nice little small bladed screw driver shaped gap right at the bottom. you will then be able to push the mechanism down and should be able to open the door paul

  5. wouldnt that totally bugger the system if every individual asked Plus then you would need all the tables and data that was in use at the time they would almost need to hold a duplicate of the program and the data base against every picture
  6. yet they still closed the local school in sherborne because the teachers didnt turn up due to the weather it would appear that now we no longer live and work locally and all commute the system collapses. though saying that the motorway home from westmidlands last night was very empty and i got home about 10 mins earlier than normal.
  7. problem with the roads in the uk is that you need snow for chains to work. as they spend some of the time getting rid of it chains are no good. however as i have a set and planned to hunt for snow thought i might put them in the boot and yes i know i need them as axle pairs notice the smiley
  8. cheers guys reckon 1 on the front and one on the rear then

  12. the americans classify them as rover truck -suv its all there then i think it comes back as set37 this then translates to 606334 GHB197 on the manifacturers part no list which equates to rct3429 which is New wheel bearing which fits Defender models from chassis number LA930456 or New wheel bearing which fits all Discovery models
  13. http://www.timken.com/en-us/Knowledge/ForM...artCatalog.aspx
  14. if it has freewheeling hubs engage them first
  15. ok so the forum spends 75 $ per month extra. If that does not solve the issue is that money refundable?
  16. i know you can get coil sprung series chassis but that would not be a like for like replacement, also would mean the original axles cant be used
  17. picked up a copy of the lro comic last night to look at the article with petal in it ( that was a waste just pictures and no article) got to the technical workshop pages were there was a "letter" about someone who had a series and a knackered disco. they were planning a new chassis and wanted to utilise the axles ( so must have been a coil sprung replacement chassis) they wanted to know what else they could use the response was engine gearbox and transfer box. that would leave just the body and the vin number remaining from the original vehcile. i was very dispointed that there was no mention informing DVLA in the uk or equivilant for other countries. and no mention of SVA etc
  18. I would have thought that the narrowness and no where for pedestrians to get out of the way would apply to the majority of hedged country lanes
  19. seen this before where the strainer was touching the bottom of the sump because the sump was distorted. look for a circle mark on the inside of the sump
  20. double line pulls, right angle pulls etc
  21. series axles and discovery box and transfer box = permanent 4wd = trouble as axles are not designed for this no different to running a series box in 4wd ie yellow knob depressed which gives wind up paul
  22. i wouldnt only rated to 2000kg load which is far less than required
  23. took 3 attempts to get in about 15 mins ago all other sites working ok just no response from the url at al paul
  24. oh fun and games foned the dealership about 1645 to ask where the disco was as they had promised it back this afternoon the snotty service manager, shall we call him pierre to spare his blushes, told me it wouldnt be ready until tomorrow as they wanted to check it. Asked for the replacement car as it was warranty work. he told me that it was not warranty work they were checking and adjusting the handbrake as a favour to me!!!!. I asked what the favour was as they had already admitted that water had got into the cable when they steam cleaned it and that was what had frozen and needed removing as it would only freeze again, he was adament that i could not have a car and even though they had promised it back today sorry tough they had nothing for me to use!!!! even though they had damaged the cable. so i asked to speak to the dealer principal, pierre refused to put me through so i said no problem i would just fone back and get the receptionist to put me through foned back and the principal was busy, so ended back with pierre who told me he had spoken with the principal, bloody fast worker this chap as it was only about 10 secs after coming off the fone to me and that the prinicipal was happy for pierre to deal with it even though he was just as helpful as a chocolate tea pot which has been used before. again refused to put me through to the principal so i foned back again and the receiption ist asked why i wanted to speak to the prinicpal so i said its because of his incompetent staff. eventually got hold of the principal who established that the handbrake cable needed to be replaced as it was damaged and that the reason they handnt done it yet is that they dont have one in stock. mean time some one from the dealership fones my wife and says car is ready we have lubed the handbrake cable up but we have no one to bring it out to you. the prinicipal is not happy, i am not happy, the wife is even unhappier( glad i am in west mids tonight ) the principal arranges a car admits they got it completely wrong both last week and this week and will sort out the poor communications ( again) well the freeloader turns up at the door with the guy who picked up the disco this morning, the chap hands the wife the keys and legs it before showing her the car, how to start it etc and leaves it outside the gate. Wife now has to spend 10 mins trying to work out how to start a keyless ignition car ( never driven one before) and get it in off the road they are getting the cable for the morning god help them if they dont have VOR stock!!!!! so long story short buy a toyota
  25. sound advice as long as you have a flat drive or street not too clever if you live on a slope!!!!! It would be except it was landrover which steamed cleaned it, landrover which drove it from the dealership to home, landrover who parked it and guess what landrover which put the handbrake on. ( its an auto so i usually put it in park
