  7. ok got home both wheels turn freely and no noise so suspect the diff will start stripping it down tomorrow evening paul

  9. nope not got a tool box with me!!!!! not sure if it is cv,diff,or halfshaft just know its the front at the mo. Need to keep the repair work to the minmum of effort as i have elbow problems and am not allowed to grip with my right arm unless i have to. So its going to be fun stripping down the axle this weekend left handed!!!!!!! and if i use the RAC saves me 30quid in fuel. and if you think i am keeping my tools in the back of the disco in the middle of birmingham 4 days a week you must be joking!!!!!!
  10. need to pick brains turned into work this morning and suddenly lost all drive. fortunately it was down hill to the car park. Popped into difflock and parked up ok. just been out to check and the front prop turns loverly but the front wheels remain static!!!!! As my brain has gone blank how do i decide which side is stuffed without stripping it. Ps i am i birmingham and its going to be a big orange taxi home tomorrow night to dorset. paul

  13. why should chris have to faff around coz he has been supplied the wrong stuff. If he doesnt need to change now ie he still has the old one then the supplier should sort it out. If he gets it wrong he could end up elongating the whole where the pin sits in the axle paul

  17. or just spend a few quid changing them then you know they are good. its not expensive and for the piece of mind well worth it
  18. 4x4response is voluntary work which should be included on most policies any way. Once called out you should then be operating on the insurance of the agency which called you out for third party liability including the vehicle if the agency cant supply insurance i wouldnt do it for them if i was you
  19. why not just a piece of wood welded to the bulk head at the correct height to stop the pedal coming up to far. or just ride the clutch all the time!!!!!
  20. stating the obvious but you havent left a brake pipe clamp on somewhere?
  21. in answer to a pm all this does is give you acess to the "handle" bit which has stuck in the up postion to allow you release the handle. you still need the key etc to unlock the vehicle.
