  1. I was just perusing the rather full to bursting pages of Nene's "used" land rovers. I know they have a very high reputation for bespoke overland vehicles, which I'm not disputing, but just flicking through there pages they have a huge stock of vehicles in excess of 20k... (2nd hand) and a heap of "icon" vehicle that look like improrts or summit as they're all lefty's. And why are a lot of the vehicles POA? is that something to do with the customer base? I just find it rather berwildering that any of those vehicles actually sell - I guess they must, but blimey some rich folk out there... you buy a cheaper Porsche..
  2. Aye, well will let you know how I get on. The Alu can either allow me make a bracket for re-mounting the airbox onto the AC mount or make a deep chassis bracket for mounting the burner unit. Not quite decided which will just now, just going to pull it all apart and try verious configurations! The closer I can get the heater to the input means less water pipework, so I'm using that as a priority case.
  3. I prefer the original look out of the two tbh.
  4. Ok a little update, I ordered some plugs from PaulMc - just in case! glad I did because STC966 does not fit these indicator leses. You can see the difference in the pic, the one on the right is fitting from STC966 the fitting on the left is what goes into the lense.
  5. I was doing some thinking yesterday and you would need quite a think bit of steel to support a few kg's on a flat bracket, it was more an observation rather than critisism. I ordered some 8mm alu plate yesterday, see if I can have a play around making some kind of bracket, I can work Alu a lot easy than steel due to my tooling capacity at the moment.
  6. Blimey thats a meaty bracket, certainly something to think about, i recon i could get summit behind the injector pump. Thanks for the photos much appreciated.
  7. Hmm, I hadn't thought about making a larger bracket type assembly coming off the chassis, I like the idea, I'll have a look see, I could take something off the same bracket mounts as the bulkhead footwell support brackets... Have you got any Photo's at all?
  8. Mint, PM sent. Admin, this I think could be usefull in the tech Archive. Cheers Mav
  9. Whats appening in this photo??? there are heaps of pipes and bottles I don't recognise...?
  10. Purly by coinsidance I may have found the cheap alternative! http://shop.dingocroft.co.uk/acatalog/Electrical_Miscellany.html#aZZPLUG01 Mintos!
  11. for info the plastic thing induced a swirl in the air before it hits the filter, it works in a cyclone type way flinging the heavy bits in the air to the sides of the filter housing, i.e oil/water bigger bits of rubbish. Helps keep your filter from getting damp on wet days when the air being taken is full of water.
  12. Great picture Will, cheers, I have a plastic 90 deg elbo thing just like that and some other bits of hose so i recon I could do something similar, just need to get the electric fan fitted up. Have you any pictures of the bracket you made up at all? Cheers Mav
  13. Go for it, (if its not going to cost you!) I think it would be great to get someone practical that knows what they're doing (you) to look at it, I'd certainly be interested. I like the idea of a "random" tester type mechanism, but you'll need some way of recording when it was turned on and when it wasn't so looking back at the result can you say it was down to the "hydrogen machine" being switched on. Mav
  14. Blimey, how did you find those? - cheers Ralph, looks like it would do the job, quite pricey though aren't they.
  15. I've just purchased some of these XGB100310L My link As I've got the MOT looming and its needs some fitting to pass... I presumed they would be a NAS type plug... silly really it being a Land Rover and all. rather than butchering the bulb housing I wondered if anyone know what kind of plug fitting is needed for the lamps, it looks very similar to a NAS style connector, but the pins are pins as apposed to flat blades... My link Bulb holder close up here My link Cheers Mav
  16. Hey-up and welcome to the Forum, The best place for posting pictures of your truck is in the members vehicles forum, closer to the bottom of the page. Good luck. Mav
  17. brilliant... and who said only mini's had adventures!
  18. Hmmm... i think I'm coming round to the idea of the shorter filter body, thanks for the photo's, i think i might be able to get a hold of one from our local garage, he's got some shelves of old bits n bobs, will go scroungeing tomorrow. There are heaps of 200tdi conversions, what does everyone else do?
  19. The question is, did you put them back in your trainers after!
  20. Yeah... I find my engine bay kust a tad embarrasing... I've got a modeo fan ready to be wired in, plus a heap of other engine bay tidying jobs, (get new garage space on the 23rd) I think its an orignal 200tdi filter box, and its bigger than it looks. Presently she breathes out of the engine bay, that orange bit of carp hose just stops a direct water inlet. When I find an optimal place, I'd like to plum it in with silcone hoses etc. I've seen one of those plastic 300tdi filter bodie types on fleebay and have been debating on mounting something on the engine, I just don't like the idea of meters of air hose running around the engine bay.
  21. The only way I know of is, literally by inspection, and prep before installing the races, old greese removed and cleaned properly. are you sure you vibration problem is wheel related?
  22. Yeah, I have been toying with this idea too, a rather snug location. without having a number of different boxes to try, its hard to visualy work out what will fit without to much of a ball ache with the pluming.
  23. Are the new bearings seating in the hub properly?
  24. Alright folks, Got a small problem of engine bay space. I've got a webasto Termotop C to go into the truck and the ideal and correct spot for it is the washer bottle location, on the passanger side inner wing... well thats where my air box sits just now... (washer bottle now in passanger side wing) 2 options... relocate airbox and fit webasto in its place... in which case i need a new location for air box and was thinking of a 300tdi setup having it mounted to the engine... hence does a 300tdi bracket fit a 200? OR I locate the webasto unit somewhere else... had thought about the AC unit mounts on the engine, but don't like the idea of the webasto burner haveing to put up with the engine vibration... other place would be under the blank vent in the drivers side wing... not ideal as it would need a lot of water pipe pluming and its not an easy location for servicing... has anyone got any inspiring idea's? Cheers Mav
  25. I like the feeling of greese between my fingers... rock on the old fashioned way.
