  1. Keep your eyes peeled peeps, he might actually try the "film prop" sell next!!!
  2. You meaning its rubbed a hole through the copper pipe? - you handy with a soldering iron?
  3. Hello people, now I've got this crazy notion into my head that a Freelander could be fun as my daily run about instead of my 3dr 1.8Tdci focus. I live on a steading in the middle of nowhere so the road is pretty bad and I fancy a change. I spend about 2 hrs total commuting across countryside type roads. I do have a LR90 but this isn't so fun to commute in especially when you get to a short motorway section. I do rack up miles on some long distance runs too ~ 600 mile weekend trips My focus has reasonable fuel econamy and comfort for the above, some would say its actually quite suited to its job... but like I say I fancy a change, going to test drive a few freelanders to see how they drive... anyone like to pursuade/disuade me or otherwise slap me and tell me not to be so stupid...? looking at 2002, TD4 era type vehicles...
  4. Some pictures I think might help. I presume you have standard axels and original chassis? has your truck had much work done to it before, i.e. has it been faffed with previous to yourself? It sounds like your Rad arms are the wrong size some how, making the axel miss aligne with the chassis. - is there any extra spacers/washers where the Rad arm attaches to the chassis, this making the axel sit to far forward? As you can see from the photo's I posted, there is a good 10mm plus clearance around the shocks on mine, they are tight ish, compared to standard ones but I wouldn't say they where engineered to "just" fit.
  5. When I did this, someone said there was a volume change due to bigger pistons - which is true, 41mm to 46mm is it... in which case you might want to get the corrisponding master cyclinder... mine was ok as it had already got the newer "common" vacume pump and master cylinder. I belive older 90' and 110's had different master cyclinders.
  6. Already done the washer upgrade, got a water coolent top off one of them too, just need a controller for it... The more I look the more suprised I am at how much is transferable to the defenders, specialy small interior bits, they are physically huge vehicles though, they have enough electrics to rival a modern car. The sad thing is, from looking at the chassis, they both look is not bad nick. The interior is very good on the blue one, with some salvagable on the brown one. Access under them is a bit tight due to undergrowth, still working on that one.
  7. Here's a few pictures... This one is the rough one... this is the better one and still pretty "water tight" There is no need for scrapping straight away, hence my notion of stripping them first. The one problem is I am in the back of beyond in aberdeenshire everyone drives defenders around here not exactly a need for a non sagging roof liner...
  8. Duelly ordered from Britcar, very good customer service over the phone, and price aint so bad either. LRseries admits to having there system wrong, as NTC8287 was wrongly specified. So getting a full refund on other pump. Fingers crossed I'll get 1 x NTC8288 and 1 x NTC8193 by Thursday. What I'll do is take some pictures of the different hose fitting with regard to part number so we can try and clear up the quite confusing LR parts system.
  9. How much are they out by? have you got the correct rad arm bushes on? and are they tight enough? that to a certain extend governs where the axle sits, (the rad arm to chassis bushes, not the rad arm to axel ones...)
  10. Ok, got the bits today... not exactly a spritly service from Lrseries... Well the hoses/pipes go with the pump... BUT the flippin pulley from the old pump wont fit the new pump... the flange on the new pump is too big for the pulley and the pitch of the attachemnt bolts is different. AND to top it all I bought an OEM pump from LRseries for £125 and it turns up in a Britpart box, not a happy bunny at all, its going back in the post first thing tommorow, so fed up of being led up the garden path, I almost feel tricked into buying Britpart stuff... Back to the drawing board, next to order is NTC8288 with hight pressure hose NTC8193...
  11. So when does it kick in then and how is it managed?
  12. The ride is very good, I have quite hard springs on at the moment which firm up the suspension nicely, feel good onroad, not tested it extensivly offroad yet, I suspect it may be a little hard, but the damping was night and day between the old gas preloaded shocks that where on it before.
  13. Holy monkeys, so when are you launching your new "heavy duty" prop shaft flanges then... ...
  14. Hmmmm, ok, I'll do some more research and go take some pictures later this evening, see if these things are actually worth ripping apart.
  15. I have recently aquired 2 deralict, 5 door V8 range rover classics, they where used as spares vehicles for a bobtail RRC offroader. One has had its engine and auto box removed and some doors missing, the other is fairly complete. Both have been outside exposed to the elements for a few years and I'm told the V8 thats still in has blown head gaskets amongst other problems now. I'm looking at getting them scrapped but before I do, I'd like to strip anything usable out of them before they go. I own a LR90 so more interested in the bits I can use on that, not exactly familliar with RRC's so any advice would be welcome. Mav
  16. Yeah me too, only 150 samples to be had evidently!
  17. There are 2 models of fan unit double and single, one might be related to petrol models of Mondeo the other diesel?, I stand to be corrected, but when I was doing some investigation I found the twin fan set up would be a bit of a tight squeeze around the intercooler output, opted for the single fan and with very little modification to the mondeo main fan outer assembly, its very similar size to the Land rover radiator size.
  18. Just assuming you have a 100amp Alternator is not 170amp cable a little over the top?
  19. This is not mine, I just found this "ad" on ebay. STOLEN LANDROVER "AD"
  20. I kinda like it, looks like its had a bit more "care" (in the loosest sense) and attention than some fleebay wrecks you get!!!
  21. Ralph, what rated cable have you running from you alternator now?
  22. I got bearmach non branded wheel bearings, they looked fine, had a number etched onto them but no name. I was sleptical until i happend across a unbranded Britpart one then I was happy the bearmach where ok. I usually go for Branded and I will get Timken text time, but I'm not expecting my present wheel bearing to fail any time soon.
  23. In an "old fashioned" scrap yard maybe... but the one round here don't let you go prodding around yourself thourghly disapointing..
  24. Are you that immpressed with yours?
  25. I have got a modeo single fan I'm about to fit up to my 200tdi looks like it will fit up relativly easily, The rad/intercooler are ~ in the same place as 300 so you could probably give that a go.
