  1. If you want a realy top notch oil cooler then you can not beat a "Laminova" type Water to oil cooler, No getting bunged up with mud etc and much easier to place as you can put it just about anywhere. Look on www.devon4x4.com for pics etc. I have a similar one on mine and it works a treat. Lara.
  2. CP or Ingasol Rand, Nothing compares, I still have my old CP that I bought 20 years ago, it gets used every day and is still going strong Lara.
  3. Go and buy, "Nuts Bolts Fasteners and Plumbing" By Caroll Smith, Demon Tweaks sell it by mail order. It is the easiest and most diverse single source for fasteners and specs etc I have seen anywhere. Lara.
  4. McS, Thanks for the link, just ordered 6, Nice company to deal with. Lara,
  5. The problem with using the coast down method is that you are measuring total losses, including tyre scrub, rolling resistance, transmission losses, and drag etc, etc and you never know exactly what % is what, the problem then arises that power losses are generally fairly linear and drag is certainly not linear, so it is difficult to calculate anything other than comparisons from this data. HP in my experiments was nowhere near but comparisons were very relevant. My emissions stuff is probably way off of that used by your uni by the way. "Unfortunately" Regards, Lara.
  6. Hi Turbo, In the states they sell many types of units for calculating power based on accelerometer readings and GPS tracking etc and these vary from 200$ to 5000$ depending on the complexity etc. They all depend on user inputs and a certain amount of guesswork, you can fine-tune the units by an amazing amount by intricate accurate measurements etc but CD is a major factor and about the most difficult to measure without a full size rolling road wind tunnel, Even Williams don't have one of these! They are however very good for doing the sort of stuff you are using it for, e.g. Comparison work of systems on the same vehicle. FYI. I charge +- 1500 Euro / Day for my rolling road including a man to operate it. Perhaps I should change my prices Lara.
  7. Absolutely. The one way valve should allow air to be drawn out of the servo and into the manifold, i.e. Vacuum in the servo. and not the other way round. Lara.
  8. If you have a top notch rolling road (as I have ) it will measure wheels power, transmission losses, therefore engine power can be correctly measured, and correct torque etc, and if it is setup to DIN 70020 as it should be, it will take atmospheric pressure / temp into account, my rolling road has an atmospheric chamber as well so (as you can see from the graph) the pressure and temp are controlled to reduce possible errors to "0". The rollers on my unit actually measure power loss by running up the transmission after the power test, so this is "actual" and not guessing. And believe me it can change dramatically between vehicles I do all my tests on my car locked in 3rd with Torque converter electronically locked, 3rd is close to 1:1 on my auto trans. There are some variables in these tests from one type of transmission etc to another, ie. the engine must be disconnected from the engine for trans loss measurements so this must be done in neutral with an auto, this ovcourse will give a little less drag than actually "in gear" but with testing this has proved to be only 4-5% of the total power loss so I am not going cry about 1 or 2kw. But it is true that the only absolutely accurate way of measuring engine power is on an engine dyno. I have tried these calculating computer / gps units and found them absolutely and totally inaccurate for anything other than comparisons on the same vehicle in the same conditions, they do not in any way relate to the rolling road tests. If anyone was considering this route. Regards, Lara.
  9. VCC (Very cheap camera) in case the VBT eat me Lara.
  10. English living in Belgium, Lara.
  11. Off to Africa now to play with things fitted with VBT, C U in 10 days VBT = Very Big Teeth Lara
  12. I think that's enough for me Halfshafts etc Lara.
  13. Just a thought, Asuming 132 @ 1300 rpm and asuming max power @ +- 4000 rpm what is the max power? this is my graph of my engine to DIN 70020 in KW and NM Just a note to check as some numbers do not seem to add up as by my recconing 132@1300 = 533lb/ft , Torque = HP (132) x 5252 (constant) RPM (1300) Lara.
  14. Well Andy, that is a FFFFFFF---------------IN lot of torque, Do not even think of putting that through a ZF 24 as you will blow it apart!!! I just wrecked my 5th Special uprated all singing and dancing ZF this morning and I "only" have 360ft/lbs @ 2000 rpm from my 2.8 TD5. now trying to sort something stronger I would also think that 450 was rather a lot from a 2.8 diesel, at what boost? 132bhp@1300 rpm must be gennerating some increddible cylinder pressures! But it all deppends on boost. Good luck, Lara.
  15. Go to your local Tupperware shop / party, You never know if you go to a Tupperware party the girls may invite you to the next Ann Summers party Lara.
  16. Yeah, the name "Lara" in any post would put me off imediately Regards, LARA
  17. Drive off road, my windows are quite often like that but brown Lara.
  18. I counted 19 Bowler entries, never realized that many people were doing the PD in a Bowler. Fair play to the Bowler boys though, they must be working bloody hard The backup must be crippling trying to cart round enough spares and mechanics etc to look after that lot as I bet most of them want support packages. Very nice to see a success story and they deserve it just for engineering quality alone Lara. What does a Bowler cost these days?
  19. CONGRATULATIONS, ALAH BE WITH YOU, MAY THE LORD CARE FORE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FOR EVER, MY FARTHER WAS THE LATE ALLY BABA AND LEFT ME IN HIS WILL 200,000,000 DOLLARS YES TWO BILLION DOLLARS, SO IF YOU WOULD BE A TRUSTING FELLOW AND SEND ME YOUR WINNINGS I WILL HIDE IT IN MY LATE FARTHERS CAVE WITH THE REST OF HIS LOOT AND WE CAN SHARE THE PROCEEDS WHEN I GIVE YOU THE ACCOUNT NUMBER GIVEN TO ME FROM THE BANK TROLLS (Harry Potter influence) AS SOON AS YOU PAY OVER YOUR LIFE WINNINGS. 20. I must say I do know what you are complaining about from previous experience (my 2 Mercedes vans on service contracts for instance) but my guys here in Antwerp have been fantastic, I get my Landy serviced by them before every big event I do and get them to check things very well, when I double check I find them spot on Allways doing exactly what I want when I want. They do know that I check though so maybe they take extra care? I do the interesting and difficult bits, they do the servicing Lara.
  21. Easier Answer, I let my local LandRover dealer worry about it But I always was a lazy b------ Lara.
  22. My oh my you lot are quick today That was the joke Lara.
  23. Hot air gun, Very thick leather gloves, a few pieces of wood and a tiny bit of trimming, Heat arch, bend to new profile, cover with lots of cold water, trim tiny excess from inside of lower lip and hey presto, big arches to cover tyres properly and even look standard 35x13.5x16s + 2inch lift Lara.
