  1. I will just need to wait and see. I did phone a friend who has a garage and he said he would risk it. What is the capacity of a TD5 tank anyway. 100 litres is a lot of fuel and certainly the most I have put in it.
  2. Think about it. My tank was virtually empty there could have only been about a litre of Diesel in it as I always run down the tank as far as I can. So one litre of diesel to 49 litres of pertol is about 2% contamination. A petrol car should run quite happily at this level I would have thought.
  3. Well guys I don't know what I did but I did not get a mouthful of unleaded but it did start to flow. And I have now run it around a bit and it seems very normal. Hopefully there will not be a next time!!!!!
  4. Maverik The last time I did it was about 7 years ago in a Freelander. Trust me it is very easy to do and I have had two petrol cars since and have always tried to be careful I was transferred to the miss fueling section and they were insisting that was the only was I could get assistance. I asked that they call me back while I worked out what to do. Started to walk home about 10 minutes away only to receive a call from the recovery driver who was at my car. I was trying to arrange a tow from various friends.
  5. Yes AA although I had a lot of hastle as they wanted a fuel technician to sort it out at cost of over £250.00. Have just put 100 litres into the car so I would guess that the tank was just about dry.
  6. Have drained it through the filler spout at the tank. It was very easy to get in and under. Only undid one jubilee clip and slid the pipe back. The petrol than easily came out Have taken out about 48 litres which is one litre less than I put in. My tank was dry anyway so am just about to get a jerry can full of diesel to put in it then I will take the car to a garage and fill up completely.
  7. Thanks Phantom. The tank was at the bottom of the red mark I always run until it is almost empty. Can I just drain in as fill it up with Diesel there will only be a minute amount of petrol in it if I can drain it from the top and my local garage is 1/3 of a mile away.to top up.
  8. Hi guys gone and done it tonight. I have put 49 litres of unleaded in my TD5 fortunately I did not start it up. No will need to drain the tank anybody know the simplest method for doing this on the Disco TD5. Do I take the tank out or is there easy access at the top? Job for tomorrow morning before I do anything else. I am so angry with myself for doing it too. I normally check very carefully after doing it once before.
  9. I actually think it was the top one causing the problem as it was completely dry and the bottom one had oil from the engine bay covering it. But thanks again I was worried that I would need to fork out for a steering box.
  10. Gadget 10/10 that was exactly what it was sprayed some WD40 on it and instant releif will now get some grease on it through the week. Thanks again
  11. The steering on my Disco 2 ES is very tight and quite lumpy when you turn it. Any ideas?
  12. And the solution to the issue is to remove 75mm and re-weld. It now sits 25mm behing the registration plate with no obvious detrimental effects. Good to go
  13. Greg the reason I was asking is cos someone I know needs one for a TD5 and some else I know has a 200 chassis and I was trying to help each.
  14. Hmmmmmmmmmm let me think about that. Nope mine is sitting in the driveway and the only thing I want off it is the 4.6 block which I know only has 17k on it and my CSK block is goosed. I just have not had time to do anything about it besides the house is for sale and it is not a good advert with a broken car in the drive never mine two lol.
  15. What is the difference between a 200 a 300 and a TD5 chassis?
  16. Mike have done a list of parts and got prices on Ebay. I got to £4k using the lowest figures. I am about to break mine when I get the inclination.
  17. Have removed it for just now. I bought it off eBay new but used if you know what I mean a very sturdy piece of kit. I was thinking about fabricating a winch mount myself but once I felt the weight of the winch I decided to go the proprietary route. There is scope to cut 75mm or 3in off the length. and re-drill the hole. I think that is the better option that worrying about the projection it will mean that it sits about 25mm or an inch behind the actual bumper so that should then be OK? It does look unsightly sticking way out front anyway and as this is supposed to be a road car for me I want to make it as unobtrusive as possible but still giving me the scope for toys and fun. I can certainly put a tennis ball over it my dog seems to find them all over the place so I have quite a few. Thanks for your help guys.
  18. I am in the process of installing a receiver hitch to the front of my Disco. A right Bu**er to get in without removing the front bumper but that is an aside. I am nearly ready to bolt it up but I am concerned about the projection to the front of the car and wondering if I should modify it by shortening it and re drilling the hole for the pin. From the pictures below I would be interested in your views and if anybody has knowledge of legislation. Side View View from above
  19. Anything interesting on it? Or just the bog standard Disco. Remember all parts have a value it just depends on who wants what and when! (market forces) The chassis is worth more in bit.
  20. MG Is that the red one you got from the airport that you are breaking?
  21. When it fails to work the red warning LED is lit. I will check the wire.
  22. Noticed a couple of times now that after turning the engine on and running the car the gauge has not been working. Yesterday it did it for two starts and then started working normally. Any ideas or suggestions as to what could be wrong?
  23. Thanks for that I had not realised. I am not sure yet what I am going to use for but I certainly want to keep my options open.
  24. Thanks for the help now to go and play.
