  1. David Thanks it is quite nice to be back in a Range Rover but I forgot how thirsty they are.
  2. I have recently bought a 2000 P38 Vogue and have fitted a towbar. I am in the process of installing the electrics but cannot find the multiplug to connect to can someone give me a step for a hint? Also to activate does it need to be connected to a computer? Thanks
  3. My wife used to own an ES for 9 months but again the head gasket blew and it was in the dealers for 3 months whilst they fitted a new engine. It was then traded in against a TD4 auto for me.
  4. Steve Regardless of the bumper type, kit or standard the mounding will/should be the same in the ends of the chassis. I would suggest that you make a metal mounting bar like a mini bull bar if you like that fixes to the chassis througn the bumper mounts I did this on an old Range Rover to mount a winch under the bumper.
  5. FB I bought an 05 HSE TD4 Auto from new (my first me car) and kept it for 2.5 years, did 55k miles and the only major issue I had in that time was the rear diff popping literally the week after I had placed an order for the FL2. I thouroughly enjoyed driving it and only changed it because Landrover gave me an FL2 HSE as a courtesy car while they sorted out one of the niggling issues that I had i.e. the door release on the drivers door kept failing and needed repaired cos I couldn't open the drivers door from the inside. I also used it to tow a 1500kg twin axle caravan which it did with no complaints.
  6. Sniper Are you saying that your problem was electrical?
  7. To rule out the ABS run with it disconnects for a while. I would have thought it was the ABS also.
  8. Dale I can vouch for the TD4 Auto HSE had an 05 plate for 2.5 years and did 55,000 miles without any issue other than minor niggles and a diff the week after I placed an order for the FL2 . Good car no complaints. Before that had a 52 plate ES V6 which was a nightmare for the 9 months that we had it. Needed new engine after 26000 miles.
  9. Dale Sad git that I am I can put my hands on the spec booklet I got when I bought my 05 plate Freelander. I assume you are talking trim and goodies so here goes and this is the 5 door model not sure it makes any difference. Better Hi Fi (Harmon Kardon) ,Sunroof as standard, remote steering controls, GPS navigation (carp and I still used TomTom), 17 in Alloys, Winter pack inc heated seats (very nice), Leather seat facings, and Front Fogs
  10. Jules Suggest an underground garage that is what I am currently working on which I am hoping will be finished later this year so I can start restoring my CSK.
  11. Dengie yes you are totally correct and I stated that this is permitted development i.e. development that does not require planning permission.
  12. Dave I am an Architect based in scotland so the rules will vary but the principles should be similar but I would advise that you get it properly verified from the planning dept. In Scotland whe have premitted development rights which also apply in England. (There are differences so I am being careful) we are allowed to build a structure of any size in the back gqarden as long as it is more than 5 metres away from the house, is not more than 4 metres in height and does not reduce the distance from a building to a public road or right of way. i.e. if you have a public footpath at the back of the house you may require planning permission for whatever you build. As I said the principles are similar and I know in England there are permitted development rights so I would discuss the proposals in principle with them. The Council usually has a duty planning officer who will be able to guide you properly. If I can assist further let me know.
  13. I had an 05 plate HSE for 2.5 years from new to 55k miles averaged consumption was 24 generally round town with a heavy right foot, 28 on motorways again with a heavy right foot and about 21 towing a twin axle caravan.
  14. Last car was an 05 Freelander TD4 HSE Auto which I used to haul a twin axle Lunar Quasar Caravan. I had the car for 2.5 years clocked up 55000 miles on her and the only issue I had was a blown diff 1 week after I placed an order for a FL2. The car also ran out of puff at 65mph but I was towing 1.5 tonnes and 60mph is the speed limit so no complaints. Very stable and a good tug. Keep the 4WD.
  15. Mr FL1 had standard roof rails and used cross bars from Halfords. My FL2 also has roof rails and I have the old Halford cross bars which I have fitted bike racks to and I have the proper Landrover crossbars which I keep in the nice carry case in the boot. I only have the LR bars because I ordered them by mistake when I bought the car.
  16. My wife inherited her mothers car on 9th Feb, when we searched her house we could not find any of the docs for the car. We applied for a new V5 and sent back the driving licence with a covering letter. We received a letter after 3 weeks because we had not put the reg no. of the car on the form so I phoned the number through and we got the docs on the 13th March, a day after receiving a ticket for having no road tax. We forgot to check in all the chaos when it expired. Eightpot you could always file off the number on the block and stamp in your old number. It is not illegal as long as the block is not stolen
  17. Yes I seem to remeber having that problem. Just hold the nozzle out from the neck and it will fill up normally.
  18. I have 99000, not driven on the road for about 5 years since I bought a Freelander as a company car when I started my own business. When I bought my CSK from the origonal owner I spoke to the RR register because I was a member and knew the CSK people to talk to at the time. 200 is around check out the CSK website www.rangerovercsk.com they list all the ones that have had contact with. I know many that are not listed so think the website is a waste of time. I have notifed them of one and was told where to go. Mine came with reg number J200CSK which Landrover tried to acquire for Spen King's range rover but refused so mine still has the plate.
  19. WOW a lot of money for a 19 year old car. It encourages me to make mine concorse when I get round to sorting it. The price generally seems to be £3 to £7K which is not bad but they are disappearing.
  20. Quite low milage then. Condition should be superb and the price to reflect.
  21. Forget the Camel buy a CSK instead. Great Cudos and gets you noticed. And the best LR product and I promise I'm not bias
  22. Did you get the number from the dash? What sort of miles were on it?
  23. LR Nut You have now seen the CSK some detail . pleeeeeze.
  24. LR Nut Pm me your e-mail address and I will scan and email the written sales notes that came with my car. I am the second owner of mine which is sitting rotting in my drivway until my garage is finished. I move it regularly as it makes a great security device for my caravan. Yes ther were only 200 but they are a combination of manual and auto mostly auto. All beluga black all with chrome bumpers 3.9 V8's Beige leather interiors and brown plastic dash boards and fittings. The car should have a plaque on the dash board with the limited edition number and should come with a presentation box with a certificate signed by Charles Spen King certifiying authenticity and number on the dash. The chrome bumpers are difficult to get hold of but you can easily get standard ones and have them chromed. Most parts are standard Range Rover but interior is different and can be difficult to secure some items. Keep and eye on e-bay there are always things coming up on that but watch carfully because sellers use the CSK badge to sell anything they thnk are different. Alloys are uniquely coloured but a set of standard alloys of similar design can have the coloured band added. All are two door models, two door models in UK ceased production in 1986/7. All have anti roll bars and beleived to be the first time they are used in production Range Rovers. Fogs and Spots at the front Hella 1000's very easy to get. The body on mine is badly rotten particularly cills, A pillars and inner wings but once aforementioned garage is complete I intend to start sorting it out. Bit of a CSK nut so always interested in talking about it and can help with specifics.
  25. Fridge Would agree "IF" I had oil but there is no way you could run the 1.2l engine for 200 miles at 85-90mph with no oil and without it overheating at best.
