  1. So, I'll see the following in Devizes market place then. Turbocharger TroddenMasses GBMud M005 Andy Cowman Minivin... perhaps. I've got MemMap GPS - if someone else turns up with maps too then we can split up into smaller groups if any more people volunteer. Maps would also be handy, of course, in case the PC lets me down...
  2. Right, rapid decision says 10am at the Market Place in Devizes on Sunday - be there or be late! I've not planned any lanes for certain (because I don't know that many!) but there's plenty on the maps so we'll just see what we can turn up unless there are any recommendations?
  3. There's a cafe-in-a-bus on Pixash Lane too - ask for the full breakfast
  4. As it says - who fancies a trundle next Sunday? More for the scenery and p!sstaking really, nothing too challenging I hope.
  5. Problem is, if you chuck radweld in it'll coat everything including the innards of the block, and that'll reduce the amount of heat it can reject into the water - maybe more problems in the long run?
  6. Could these be the next Trac-Edge though?
  7. I'd suspect the tacho - my new VDO one is days out (because I've not adjusted it yet) and the OEM ones probably aren't much better. Max unloaded revs on the engine should come out slightly above 4500rpm - when I can see 5500rpm on mine I know it needs turning down a bit.
  8. You'll be competing with Mrs TroddenMasses... but I'm happy to judge the outcome :)
  9. It is indeed - next time I'm heading out for a run you'll have to join us. I've led a Vitara down that lane - no damage except scratching.
  10. I'll be marshalling apparently - come and say hi.
  11. Can't we ban 'banning things' and try to let common sense be the rule? The phrase "where appropriate" or "as XXX considers" used to be critical in English law, so ripping around the infield of a disused airfield on a kid's go-ped and racing across open-plan gardens in a housing estate could be separated by due representation and sensible dialogue. Of course, I'd still see the Jaguar defacers strung up, inside job or no.
  12. I like my Milemarker - as people have said, they're slow but robust. Something that hasn't been raised is run-on after you let go of the button. If Mr Lumberjack is trying to lower a heavy limb (or adjust his women's underwear) I can see a 2ft error in lowering can make a lot of difference to whoever's underneath. Charles - can we add the Milemarker to that graph (not the Current graph - it's unfair ) and make the scale logarithmic?
  13. Egg white? We use radweld at work, never had a problem with that although it can reduce the efficiency of the radiator, which in a Freelander...
  14. Excellent... detail. Inertia reel belts in a IIA though? </anorak>
  15. Best - undoubtedly converting from 2.5NAD to 300Tdi Worst - Bronco Dirt Devils (because my girlfriend says I can't put her here)
  16. Another ringing endorsement for Pete & crew - I moved to Brighton for a year from Bristol and carried on using him because I knew it'd be the right part turning up the next day. That'd be worth paying for, if he wasn't cheaper to start with!
  17. ... or about twice the 'overdrive' of going from 1.4 to 1.2 t-box.
  18. I suspect a decent lawyer would argue that you in fact have no exhaust, simply a single convoluted silencer with six or seven bends and a 2.5" diameter along it's length. Again regarding beadlocks, if there's nothing in Construction and Use then it'll come down to case law - anybody wanna be a test case?
  19. Edward - with respect, what you say is quite correct. He was driving legally and committed a couple of minor civil offences (such as trespass)which could be pursued through the courts if it was worth the money, which it isn't. That's not the issue here. Nor has anyone taken the Frontera as anything other than a identifier for this individual. The point is, the man was driving like an arse. Subsequently he was rude (perhaps in the face of Fi's provocation). Whether he was in a Frontera, Vectra, rickshaw or pair of woolly socks he represents us all so he shouldn't rise to her bait.
  20. Mark - spot on - I was pleased to see the 15ft fallen tree has been trimmed but it's impossible to drive further up - although a local resident said he's seen the CEGB drive it in 110s! The pic above isn't mine - I've not been to a SWLROC event in 3 years or so.
  21. Bish explained this one to me last night in the pub. Basically he only gets stuck in easy places so it won't be hard for him to get recovered. Someone will stand directly in front and manually pull on the doglead that he'll attach to the front. If there are any angles he'll use one of those extending 'winch' type dog leads around a tree, or just get someone to push. If he gets too stuck it'll use too much petrol and might make him spit the dummy again...
  22. Is that a Dynamometer or a Dyneemamometer? Nice idea Andy, I like numbers rather than 'it feels much better'
  23. The ford lane is probably at Baggeridge Farm, climb through a wood, into an open field and across a farmyard. I used to trial heavily with Buxton and District LRC and I've been a couple of times with Somerset and Wilts LRC (an ARC club) and Somerset 4x4 club - Hedley on here is a member of the latter. Both were pretty good to be honest although I've never really got on with the ARC's strict trialling rules on what you can and can't do to your LR.
