  1. OMG!!!! Think someone put to many 0s on that, £9.00 tops, make at home for pennies
  2. According to that link you can change the output bearings without removing the housings and shafts, is that correct?
  3. very original and unmolested, but worth ten grand? Not of my money! But look at where these vehicles are aimed now, wealthy and interested parties, not neccessarilly enthusiasts. It is nice though.
  4. Thats handy post, lots of good links and keep at them!
  5. Holy cow, needs a visit from VOSA to 1) explain how the points system actually works 2) to pop it off to the crusher to rid us of this cheapo wanna something and nothing crime against refurbished Defender.
  6. Erm £14,500???He fitted the dash paneling and instrument covers very badly, and he even took a photo to show how badly! Really not worth the same as a 2010 90 seen in LRO adds pages! Why build on an '83? Rolling tax exemption? 7yrs to wait then!
  7. I am still keen, juggling work and house moves has damped the spirit slightly but I am going to wait for a week of dry before i come over as I would like to do as little damage as possible to the lanes, I can imagine the chalk soakes up water like a sponge! post up if you plan a drive round, woulď do my best to make it over
  8. I know, but putting a realistic view on it, I always wanted to have a couple of projects on the go, but in reality I see little point in having more than one project motor, my personal problem is space, but even if I had space, I would restrict myself to one on the time basis, I don't want to be scraping cash together for #3 parts and then struggling for time to fit them when I could be out driving and enjoying #1.Older age has brought a sense of realism and priorities, I have come to realize why I keep my Discovery, it keeps me spannering and gets me off road when I want to go, I won't waste a moments thought on adding a third project once we have a second vehicle(eurobox run around) life is too short and there's never enough money, why try over stretching, so far it never worked for me so I won't bother trying.
  9. I know it's not a positive thought but why hang on to it? You have a D2 for daily drive and your modded S3, life is picking up as you say with YFC activities, it doesn't make much sense to me in keeping it unless you either dump the D2 or the S3. After running one now as my daily I might lean to a project toy but no way in hell would I stretch to a project, a modded toy and a D2 daily, eurobox daily driver and a fun bus yeah. I have a ton of work stacking up because I don't have a safe place to work on my vehicle and because it's my daily driver I can't afford to have it off the road, but if I had a place to work on it I would only have one project/land rover at a time, I think you should look at the quality Vs value of your time, two project vehicles and a D2 daily means your actual social time is a compromise between social and project time one or the other gets neglected, the more projects means less time divided between them as well as maintaining your daily. I think selling the S2 is a better option, frees up time and money for the S3 and gives less pressure when something happens to the D2. Just my honest opinion.
  10. Idle curiosity, what was the factory fit in '93? Was there such a thing as an immobilizer on a 200Tdi?
  11. Oh yes, genuine rotor and distributor cap, high quality leads are a must, genuine are best! NGK plugs if yours are in need of replacement. fresh petrol, fully charged battery and patience. Is the LPG sequential or vaporizing mixer ring? I would disconect that for now until you have it running on petrol properly, I say this as a mate had one that switched automatically over at 1500rpm, good but when the car is new and unknown with a malfunctioning LPG system, every time it was revved it would cut out, pain when trying to sort its erratic running out
  12. No time to roll around under it yet as back from house view number 2 now and it's getting dark! Will check tomorrow at work, maybe hoist it up on the forklift to get better look. Now off to ASDA to see if they have a copy of LRM....
  13. I rubbed the flywheel over with emery and replaced pressure and friction plate together, the clutch has seemed heavier than before but I put it down to the new one being a HD unit with stronger/stiffer diaphragm? The wading plugs are in the glove box for both timing case and bell housing. I have been told to look at both the gearbox mounts and the hand brake for perishing and drag.
  14. Last year I replaced the clutch after cooking it a bit dragging trucks out of the parking. It always juddered/shuddered a bit, but it was noticeably less after the clutch, but itsnewming back again, made more noticeable as I have been in stop start traffic these last days as I am on a building site in the middle of a housing estate next a school, traffic is horrendous!! Almost certain the clutch is not at fault, but can the judder/shudder be anything else?
  15. I'm leaning towards fire bombing them in their car, the only way they stop people like this (and after seeing how many companies they are involved with and have registered at same place) they are just outright thieves, 10 different companies owning a fraction of nothing to give to the courts to settle debts. Now, 98 or 95RON? In all seriousness, it is in their nature, only very real life threatening consequences will change them, the current legal system only serves to protect ponses like these!
  16. I put a D1 rear axle in the back of a Citroen Berlingo, tad shorter than a mondeo estate with back seats down.
  17. Stereo's are cool, Td5 fm gets old fast! Look for a local scrap yard, there will be lots of useful stuff available cheap, speakers head units, not sure if the D2 had the rear door amp and subs but that's a worthwhile fit. How far have you got with the mechanical checks, fluid an filter swaps?
  18. I agree completely! Thats a lot of money for what it really is and realistically how much needs done!
  19. At least fuel type is correct Hilarious that you can do this just to dodge a bit of tax and avoid an MOT.
  20. I bought a 10T bottle jack, sound like over kill but it goes up with finger pressure I also have a jack foot that's a foot square for soft ground, it lives under the seat and takes up no space but it's been very handy on many occasions!
  21. I completely identify with this, they could have just stuck a Ssanyong emblem on it and no one would have known any different lol
  22. That's a clean and tidy motor
  23. Great write up, I intend to do the stem seals when I pull the head to do the gasket.
